so i think that its extreamly fast blind scaning box.

Compared to what other box? I am interested in this box mostly as a blind scanner but information on its speed of scan and sensitivity of its tuner is hard to find. To say its an extremely fast blind scanning box means nothing if you can't say how long it takes to blind scan a satellite, have you timed it on one satellite? Can you give that info?, no setup time just the time to blind scan one satellite? That would be very useful information to me and I would appreciate it very much.
I inquired at Satshop in Germany about price of this box and the blind scan ability and they told me it doesn't have blind scan at all...now I'm confused. Is anyone else here using blind scan with this box?

Howdy! I'm in Canada, we don't have the same type of satellite services as you folks do. Here we have a choice of two providers, both are only available with the providers boxes, not much to choose from. Some of us are feed hunters as there is quite a bit in the clear but its all over the sky and they move from satellite to satellite often...that is why we use blind scan boxes, they can scan the whole satellite and find when new feeds pop up.:)

Hi, I got VU+ Duo 4 days ago. my previous receiver is DM7000S.

I like everything about the VU+ but not the SD channels quality! and the menu speed!

My DM7000 is faster when you open the menu! also its faster if you move over the channels list!!

I don't know if VU+ is slow! or most of the new HD receivers is just like that. Because VU+ is my first HD receiver :).

Hi mate

Use the Dream Elite image on your VU Duo and download the auto resolution plugin form the addons server with that you can tweak the SD setting to make it look hell of a lot better.

Your 7000 will be faster you are comparing Enigma1 to Enigma 2 All Enigma 2 Linux receiver will feel slow compare to a Enigma 1.

Thanks for the clarification about Enigma 1 and for the tips.

I did try the last original firmware 4.1, its better when I browse the channels list :) (almost same as DM7000).

PTW: Do you know how to make the channels list more than one column? like the DM7000S?

Kintarx.

3 Column channel list is what we all wont mate.

I have never found a way to do this with Enigma 2. Not sure a way to do this exists.

my impressions of VU+duo

Mine arived yesterday, played with it all afternoon till late at night.
I'm simply wowed by this box and here is why:
1.Installation:
-don't know is it because reading boards all the time, or bcs had many stbs over the years but everything installed from first attempt.
-I put via USB latest VTI image, everthing went smooth, installed CCcam worked excellent, tried mgcamd that also worked like a charm, opened the box and installed 500GB HDD it was easy 8 screws in total, booted the box it recognized right away tried to record several channels from once (like one youtube video) it RECORDED it.... overall installation went as smooth as can be.

2.Speed:
-I did not measure with stopwatch but its my impression that it boots around 3 times faster(till channel opens with emu) than my dm800
-zap is so fast which is more noticeable on FTA HD channels, while with cccam depends on your peers, then I tried mgcamd with server near my geolocation and it worked like zapping fta channels. overall much faster than my dm800.
- plugin installation and reload settigs: plugins are being installed and work right away, what amazed me the most is the reload of channel settings this is being done by VU+duo for 1-2 seconds, while my dm800 needed 15-20 seconds.
-Remote: it reacts so fast that you get impression that it reads your mind, you get illusion that menu came up before you even hit the button. Also prior of arrival of the box, one of my main concern was how I'm gonna get use to new remote after so many years of using dreamremote, not that I get a hang of it right away I'm also liking it.

3. Tuner
-tried in weaker transponders and can freely say that is better, also I scanned entire 28.2-29 position, all transponders with network search and bat, it took around 10-15 minutes and there some transponders there that I cannot receive here so its thinker a little bit on those.

4. Artistic impression and design
-read on other boards some ppl claiming that VU+duo is ugly box etc... Not that they are wrong IMHPO, I personally like the look of this box very much and its very good looking reciver and more importantly it not box of matches (dm800-500), 3.5" HDD gets comfortably inside, fan is almost silent also this box runs very cold and you cannot use it during winter for heating.

5. Likability
-The best receiver I had till date, and unlike some other receivers that I had this one is my sweetheart

Mate,

First of all i wish you a lot of fun with your Vu+Duo ;)

Unfortunately i’m really disagree with your opinion mate about the tuner sensitivity because it’s 1one of the weakest (ever!) !

I have had test it on the very weakest satellite to receive it here in west Europe namely the Nilesat on 7W and it’s did not receiving a lot of channels which I already received them with my channelmaster 120cm + MTI High Line Pro lnb and almost year of 10 / 15 older receivers like the Relook400 , Echostars 3600 + "5020" , Nokia 9500 Grandpa of all receivers :D , "Vantage 8000S" , DBox2. and a few others which I already sold them.

All in all have fun mate :thum:

TY m8,

just tested nilesat and getting all channels without problem, signal ranges from 67% to 92% depending on transponder.

Nevertheless I'm in Macedonia and the beam is closer.

However I would never reccomend MTI lnb, had it also in the past but since I changed to invacom gained few %points.

On the other side to confirm my statment that VU+ has better tunner, some channels on 28e I was hardly getting with dm800 now all have at least 70% (example euronews)

guess it all varies from the setup and how certain components match.

Mate,

Is Macedonia in west Europe? Am a littlebit confuse so that’s why I’m asking!
It's bordered by Serbia on the north, Albania on the west,
Greece on the south, and Bulgaria on the east.

Ps: i have also Sharp , InvaCom 0.3 (!), Philips , Smart Titanium 0.2 (?), Alps , Edision 0.2 LNB (?) .

Have fun mate :thum:

Re Vu+

Hi mates

Having dream boxes the past few years, I took a gamble when i saw the vu+ duo apart from plug and play tuners which i wasnt worried about i thought the vu+ was value for money. Because its so popular i have had to wait almost 2 months for delivery but now i have it ...it was well worth the wait.
Loading images is fast and simple im using latest vti image in flash with meoboot on usb stick if i wanna check out any new images. Used to have a kathrein 910 which had good pq but the vu+ is just as good.
Barry allen or multiboot was a pain with the kathrein many a time it crashed and i had to recover it, but im pleased to say meoboot was painless and easy to use.
Unless dream media do something about its cost i can see this receiver out selling the 8000 the new 800+ and 500hd

@EW79

Hi mate

Yes i sold it on ebay to part financed my purchase of the VU+... Being enigma2 setup is almost the same however i have found the vu+ to be much faster downloading images, rather than muck about with Barry Allen i have gone for meoboot this was easy to do and having CCcam installed is rock stable no more freeze like with incubusCamd, in all it does what it says on the tin believe me im looking for a fault but right now i cant find one even plugins skins etc are well supported.
