Pixelating Problem

I have spent 2 months trying to find out what is causing this problem and finally nailed it tonight...

This is a screening/interference problem.

For me it's the DECT cordless house phone that's causing the interference, but I figure it could equally be caused by a wireless router.

It's the frequency of the signal that interferes with 11.642 channels.

To test this theory, just unplug the base station of your cordless home phone or unplug your wireless router. You will probably find, like me that your satellite picture is now PERFECT.

Please send a £50 note in a sealed envelope by way of a thankyou to yours truly :) :thum:

It's not actually that silly.
I've had something like that happen few years ago with samsung9500. I was getting picture break ups as if signal was too low on old Multivision channels. When I'd turn off my phone everything was fine.
Of course problems everyone had with ThemeX picture breaking up were caused by technical problems at provider side. But I guess it is possible that someone could still have other issues even though uplink problems of Themex were fixed.

I have checked out my observations from more knowledgable people than myself and the figures speak for themselves. Irrefutable I'm afraid.

Low Band LNB Local Oscillator 9750 MHz

DECT Phone RF around 1880 MHz +

Product 11630 MHz + 12 MHz close enough.

I'll take my £200 now if you would be so kind. :nana:

Lotsa love... A Dabbler... XXX

All joking aside though for a minute.

If you have a top quality, well shielded coax to your Sat-Box and the Sat-Box itself is a well made model and the RF shielding is good and you have a top quality brand of cordless DECT home phone which has a nice clean focused signal, then you probably will not get this interference problem at certain frequencies.

But, if like me you have only basic coax cabling and an old Echostar AD3000-IP and a low quality, cheap DECT cordless home phone which splatters a dirty signal all over the place, then this interference at certain frequencies does happen.

It's been 2 days now and my signal becomes clear on 11.642 transponder whenever I unplug my home phone from the wall socket.

I suspect there are many people out there who can only afford ordinary basic equipment and that some of them may find this solution is the answer to their problem.

If my own personal solution just happens to fix one other persons problem, then I am happy that at least it has been of some use to somebody. That's what these boards are all about. Throw up your ideas and just try to help.

Love and kisses to all merry satellite souls...XXX :D :thum:

You could TELL your neighbour to turn his phone and router off, but he may just TELL you to:

GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY

What you would have to do is try and speak to him kindly and sweetly, just as we used to do in the old radio amateur days when we caused interference to neighbours television signals.

And maybe YOU would have to buy him a nice new DECT home phone that does not spoil your enjoyment of certain channels and just hope that he is willing to accomodate you.

Be sweeeeeeeeeeet baby :-*

They are moving fast. Three of them are already working at the new frequency. And it seems like the quality is better than at the 11642 was.
