As a teenager, I listened Dutch radio (Hilversum 3. TROS, NOS, AVRO, etc.) more than german stations, renee

. Could have walked to the Netherlands within only few hours, where me and my parents lived.
I still understand a bit Dutch. If I watched their channels regularly, I could perhaps improve my knpwledge and understanding again.
Wonder, why you watch Canal+ (Dutch with english subtitles? Without subtitles? English movies with dutch subtitles? - The latter, I suppose.), renee?
Why did you take their channels into consideration? Do they offer s.th. special? (Latest american movies, etc.)?
I always thought your origins came from somewhere in Bavaria, where listening to Dutch radio channels / watching dutch tv channels can be considered exceptional, not a usual habit , or are only some of your relatives living there (70 km away from me), but you yourself come from somewhere close to the Netherlands? Do you speak Dutch?
I´m probably getting some things wrong, but I ask this because you say you are reading dutch NEWS. I suppose, the news are really only in dutch and don´t have any subtitles in german/english language.
I myself can receive two or even more free dutch tv stations that are not encrypted on ASTRA 19,2. I watched some broadcasts for some minutes, but the program wasn´t so entertaining that I would have gone on for long.
Even tried polish (from Poland - no, I did not polish my tv set

) tv sometimes. Listened to music on culture channel, e.g. Beethoven violin concert, but of course I didn´t understand one word if anything was announced or if a polish movie was shown. So I didn´t repeat my visits to that channel very often.
Yes, german news ...

.
Rather like watching scientific, historical, cultural broadcasts (History channel, Discovery channel, National Geographic, 3Sat, Phoenix, ARTE) nowadays - nearly no free tv (RTL, Pro7, etc.) at all any more.
Meanwhile I have become fed up with free tv. At least the last two months I even missed all broadcasts of "Wer wird Millionär" (quiz), a series that I used to watch regularly before, no more "Desperate Housewifes" or "Dr. House", too - all is getting too predictable.
But I maybe watched two or three broadcasts of "Kocharena" (cooking show on VOX) and the same amount of "Little Britain" or "Southpark" (on Comedy Central - they just repeat too often and too much for me, I know the gags by heart, already) during the last quarter of a year.
Program better on Canal+?
