NO BIOS NO CA FOUND !!!!

Worried I might have killed my box...

DM800SE with A8P sim

Restarted box but it hung on reboot.
Switched off/on... comes up with message along the lines of NO BIOS NO CA FOUND

Plugged into PC via "service USB" and ethernet, running Sunray Flashup v.1.3.3.7.

Click Connect... "now turn on box"... ok I do...

"Initating flash-update"

the progress bar goes all the way to the end but then it hangs at the end saying "uploaded, waiting for acknowledgement"

Meanwhile DM panel says "ERR1: NO CA FOUND"

To clarify, this is BEFORE I've flashed an image... so it won't let me get that far!

HELP

Only a theory, but I've noticed a bug which affects crossepg which removes access to hard drive, making it default to system flash, so I'm worried that might have happened and when it did a morning EPG download it might have killed it.

... I've also tried using the "mini flash" button on the rear but that doesn't intercept it and it just goes to NO BIOS NO CA message

It is a clone yes.... but I don't understand what you are suggesting

I can't try an image because I can't get far enough to choose one

I've tried to connect several times but it always hangs at the end of "flash-update" (or something like that)

You do need to have a Ethernet cable plugged in as well as the usb service cable.

Is that what your doing ?

No CA found is normally means flash box by wrong bootloader (SSl).
I had this once and found out I flashed a bad fake image!

you need a full image that has the full flash including the flash
can you get the rom info screen when connecting and can you pause and run commands in terminal?

if you are getting

© 2007,2008 Dream Multimedia GmbH. All rights reserved.
Dreambox DM800
FIRST STAGE 1.00 {BE3E3E3E3E3}
Second stage loader wasn't found. Don't panic - it's not a (real) problem.
You don't need to repair your Dreambox. It just means that the flashrom with
the graphical menu was erased. You can restore this with a tool like DreamUp
with serial access.
RESCUE{012}
MICRO2ND OK, build #56 (20080115)

before the No ca error

be carefull where you get your image from as some are renamed original or traps..

I always get my images from known forum's and I always wait to see what others say about the images there are to many fake images that have drivers removed and other problems.. I even found 1 image once that had a the ftp server with the /keys dir that was running...

No ca can also mean your box cant detect your slm1

this can be dust cauusing this problem so try this

1-open Screws from box and then open it.
2-remove sim card and clean it from dust and also clean sim holder and pins carefully.
3-Return sim and make sure in correct area.
4-Download right bootloader for your sim (SSl) then flash your box and when you flash box try to push sim and keep holding (Be careful not to touch the metal parts to avoid the electricity)..
5-Unplug and plug box...if you boot find it is ok...if you get NO CA FOUND your sim ok and want to flash another SSl make sure right one.. if still DREAM MULTIMEDIA -****>ERROR!! then sim was corrupted (buy another one or fix it by card reader)

sorry for any typos I have a bad hangover!:3434::eyecrazy:

You could try Opitflasher, you may have to google to find it.

thanks - I don't think it is a bad image, it was the official open 2.1 final version and had been running fine for months.

The box has been transported to Spain and back so I might try dusting the sim as you suggest.

yes - I saw reference to that elsewhere but I couldn't find a working link, one site had links but they all just go to that ilivid download manager and I just end up going around in circles !!!

if anyone has a direct link that would be much appreciated

I tried the normal dreamup but it doesn't connect at all

This could be the problem please be careful the pins are very delicate..

also when flashing are you getting any errors like

" too much data (or bad sectors) in partition 3 (end: 04000000, pos: 04000000).

well it worked fine for a week after coming back from Spain...

opened it up but the sim looks fine and after a blow and a rub still has the same problem

I don't get any flash errors because I can't flash my box !

I'm not sure what you meant about telnetting into the box but using Dreamup I can't enter any commands, and I don't get an IP so i can't tap in via DCC either.

I think I need to try optiflash but can't find a link that works!

okay - found optiflash 1.5 and I can now connect using IP web browser.... but the SSL has reverted to an old version

I can't remember which SSL I used (?) but the one I've saved is saying "invalid" image

dreambox-secondstage_84-r12.0_dm800se OR 2.0

Can you point me to the right one?

Flash a ssl82 image to get you up and running mate

Then flash the ssl84 and then a latest image.

are you connection via serial?

On your OP you Said you could flash an image but al always stopped at the end

this was why I was asking

if you are not using serial with Ethernet also plugged in this could be your problem..

you can also try using putty to see what's happening at power up and see any problems with the flash/sim

Here is a copy of optiflash

with the ssl files that go with it

its also the pro version

Okay this is where i'm at...

Using optiflash I can get it to install a SSL and I can then access via IP on web page...

This is what it installs...
Booloader version: Dreambox Second Stage Loader BUILD #79, built 20101015

It won't let me install these...

http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=187604

secondstage-dm800se-82.nfi
dreambox-secondstage_84-r12.0_dm800se.ipk

(invalid file)

It does let me install this one....

secondstage-dm800se-80.nfi

but when I reboot it goes back to the original problem of "NO CA NO BIOS" etc

not sure what to do with the SSLs that come with optiflash because they're just numbered 1-13

okay....

Using optiflash v.2 now (was using 1.5)

I noticed an option for Sim TYPE - so I changed from 2.1 to original....

Using "write bootloader" I got it to install SSL... which when I checked on web browser came up with build 80, so slightly newer than 79

web page let me install SSL 82 (the one I posted above) but when I reboot it comes back to same error about NO CA NO BIOS

Am I installing the wrong SSL files?

okay...

no idea how this happened but suddenly I now have a more modern bootloader showing up...

DM800SE second stage loader #82 (2011-02-25)

Before I start goofing around... please can someone confirm if this is the correct SSL 84 to put on next...

http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=187604

ps - dear mods, any chance of getting the download limit lifted? I can't download until tomorrow 22:00+. I haven't downloaded 10 files but I kept pressing back on my browser so it just thinks I have.
