hi, naveed68:).

I don´t want to praise XFS too early, but it seems as if my recordings are getting better now.
Don´t know, yet, if they are completely flawless, because I´m recording too many broadcasts at the moment and don´t want to download (Ftp) recordings for analysis while the boxes are busy.
But I played back some recordings (3 mins playback - jump forward 5 mins - 3 mins playback - jump ...) and they looked good. Before I formatted with XFS, I had bad dropouts (many times frozen picture for 1-2 seconds). Didn´t find any freezers up to now.

But I can´t really say if XFS is responsible for the improvement.
New 3.5 hdd in box1 is a lot more silent - but I changed my old 750 GB disk for 2 TB hdd - maybe the old harddisk was responsible.?. With OE2.0 the old disk had defeinitely become much louder than ever before. (But I didn´t try to format that - wanted to keep some unseen recordings.)
My 2.5 disk in box2 was always silent, but had spoiled recordings with ext file system and OE2.0, too. If new recordings are flawless, I still can´t say if XFS is responsible.
Maybe formatting the disk did the job alone, already? Perhaps if I had formatted with ext4 the result may have been the same?
I once attached additional ext4 disk to dreambox OE2.0 - but that hdd was in USB housing and not attached to SATA port of dm8000. The USB recording stopped too early after 45 minutes although the timer entry was set to 90 minutes:eek:. Didn´t use that hdd again.

---

Today I found out, that I had attached new fans in my dreamboxes upside down. So I opened both boxes and installed them the correct way, this morning.
Now they are louder than they were yesterday:rolleyes:. I set them in FanControl2 plugin not to start in standby any more (except during recordings / access to hdd).
On DMM board somebody posted that he got no more "Tuning failed" messages any more since he installed a fan in his box - seems to be true:) - not one single message since installation in my boxes and usually I got some from time to time.

No freezing boxes, too, since I set both to fixed IP (no DHCP). Emu seems to work better, too.
Seems as if my boxes are working well overall with image 20120608 (except HBBTV/Webbrowser still slow and buggy), but five minutes ago, I noticed there is a new OE2.0 image 20120612.

Hopefully, that one won´t spoil anything ...

--------------------
off topic:

Ambilight has no effect on 3D - but it´s better for the eyes and is a nice addition, when you have movie time.
Big harddisks I built in only to have many recordings / much choice for visitors. If it were only for myself, I would build in a 250 GB SSD harddrive. Most recordings I delete without storing to dvd/bluray - many I didn´t even watch.
Some I keep and those that I like most, I buy as original bluray disc to have them in 1080p with 7.1 sound.
(I´d very often like to extract a movie from there because of annoying restrictions on bought discs - I know how to do, but I´m too lazy for that.)

When watching on 21:9 tv, I get full wide angle picture without black bars on top/bottom - then with 7.1 Amplifier surround sound all gets more real - even better than in cinema;). Now, with 3D even more fun for visitors and myself. (I´ve got lots of 3D glasses at home.)

II´ll play a round of Thief3 (Deadly Shadows) now - Thief4 may come this year - I´m waiting for it - I installed old version, played through it three times and now I play fan missions:D.

hi all :) im still loving the oe2 haha ..
just to save peolpe time for gp3 and cccam see post 23 page 3

and for installation off cccam without gp3 see post 61 page 7

its not bad idea to have one fan upside down inside the box and a usb fan on top works for me and keep the dust out ...

alittle bit of topic i know but the 3d is all related amberlight etc we all want the most from our dreambox 8000s and evry little things helps like the support being shown here for the oe2 and new users ....

on the 3 d side of things i still carnt belive how responsive the remote is on the new oe2 when in 3d mode  i have to keep picnching my self to make sure im not dreaming :):)

im hoping theres a new update soon from oe2 as still having a prob with auto resolution im getting green screen when i try to install it .... maybe a complete reflash is needed or i try to sought the crash logs out as i tryed first befor last software update anyways ill get it soughted soon when im not feeling to lazy

as for xfs i thing other boxes use that as standard so guess its just a choice of prferenc from 0e2 maybe there will be an option soon on dreanbox for a choice of different formats from settings ..

on the tuner side of things i am having no probs here with any tuner messages failed so i carnt see there being a problem here i stll have the mixed killianto on and gp3 wizzard which is cool i havent had any probs this end so im not sure what some of the fuss is about

that would be good im going on sniper elite now gonar shoot some germans with my 3d glasses on come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

haha i must remember to feed my outdoor cat first :)
cheers all have a great night :thum:

Image 20120612 still is the latest, but development will go on fine. Most functions will improve.
Depending on dreambox8000 hardware, some functions presumably will never become really satisfying (webbrowser / hbbtv - *see below ), whereas teletext by now already has become very smart and bluray burning may become satisfactory, too.

Recordings (most of them) are getting flawless too now with XFS. Seems as if some softcam network requests are still disturbing, when client- and host- recordings start at the same time. Had two from six test recordings where the beginning was spoiled by interruptions/freezers, but the others were 100% o.k.. (Before only one recording out of ten was acceptable.)
Maybe it will help if I set one of the boxes to start recording a minute before the wanted broadcast begins. Prime time in my country is 8:15 pm. If client starts 8:14 and host 8:15 perhaps they don´t interfere. Well, I´ll find out.

-----
* (Anga Cable 2012) Webbrowser and hbbtv are supposed to be working much better on new hardware with new software made by Dream Multimedia. DMM anounced a new box, Dreambox Goliath, to come (when? - we all may guess).

No more Broadcom CPU (400 MHz are just a bit slow for webbrowswer - new box > 1GHz Dualcore)
and no more Enigma2 on Goliath.
Not much information at this moment.

Personal remarks for you naveed68:).

How lucky I was not to have played sniper elite, because you may have shot me yesterday!
But I solved Thief3 fan mission "Blue Rose" 100% at that time. Maybe I´ll buy the new Hitman sniper game, that I saw on tv, today:D. I like games like Battlefield/Call of Duty/Crysis/FarCry/SplinterCell/Hitman, etc.. Sometimes, for some change, I play role play games or adventures or puzzles (Portal 1+2), too .

I don´t play online games - only single player missions.
I did play online once for a while, but either I killed them all, or after/during respawn I was killed again and again by clan members, whose member I had dared to kill. The first situation gets boring (if you always win and the others play numb) and the second situation gets frustrating if you live half a second after respawn only seing red screen (They waited for me in all rooms).
Another point is, that you cannot always stop, if you want, especially if you are member of a party that needs support. I would by no means play World of Warcraft, etc..
Same counts for irc chat: You login - nobody there. You want to leave - you get messages. Always got to bed too late when I still chatted - so I stopped that.

-----
The following video is about philips tv. The one in the beginning and end is mine (with aluminium frame - model 21:9) - some functions get explained on other tv models in the middle of the video.
Interesting feature for gamers: Dual View (didn´t try that). E.g. you play a racing game with a friend - both of you wear 3D glasses - you only see your red Ferrari and he only sees his yellow Lamborghini - on the same screen:D.

hi ara hi all :) from a personal point of view i would like to see a dreambox released with the abilty to upgrade every part quite easily if in my eyes that would be the ultimate dreambox golliath .. it would be good if the new golliath had a network card on board tht could handle hd streaming .. that would be good ;)

hi ara i might of shot yer on a one to one but online i would be on your crew and watch yer back :shoot: youll have to come on line one day maybe ill set a server up for members here one day that would be good . ..

yeah far cry played that top game good with nvidia 3dtv play.. grapichs where awsome..

im glad to see improvements still being made on 0e2 as i read on another forum that 0e2 is a one off and there wouldnt be any more updates for the image that was 2 weeks ago and we have had a couple of updates since then so i guess you could say things are looking good ..:thum:

im glad the improvments are satisfactoty and i hope they can get even better from oe2

hi naveed68:) and all:)

New OE2.0 image 20120616 today!
(47 updated packages on my boxes)

Goliath will do all what today´s dreamboxes can do + more
(Perhaps 1 TBit WLAN, QuadHD-Streaming, unlimited cloud storage for recordings, movies get burnt from service on new violtray crystal storage chips send to customers for free, 120 inch full-living-room holographic beamer in box, serves tea and coffee, softcam for 2 encrypted channels:D:D)

(gameserver good idea;), but very expensive if all 330000+ members want to play:eek:.)

Have a nice weekend, all:thum: (Must stop - Firefox wants to update to version 13.0.1 - must restart browser)

:) yuppy more updates

on a more searious note i think it would be nice if dreambox started to show real advancement now and give there customers the option to build there dreamboxes them selves from scratch with the option of some seariouse upgrades if needed to suit your own requirments .. such as powerfull processers or on board network cards.. a 1tb network card would be nice.
a good choice of power supplys would be great to

its nice to have the option i think and you always feel better about your equipment if you have built it yourself.
i think the option for home build insurance should be an option too just incase you mess up during your build say like for an extra 30.00 one of payment your covered should it go wrong :thum:

so like you buy your main board and you have the option of building it to your budget from a range to say 500.00 right up to say 1500.00

in an ideal world we woud get the latest hard ware straight onto our shelves but the fact is that new hardware already developed will not see the shelves for years to come
:mecry:

ara i was thinking more like an a elite team of say like 8 to 12 so we could like take over the gaming world and kick some seariouse arse along the way in games like gt5 or shoot up
:shoot:
maybe set up a online gaming section here so members could post what games ther playing online at this moment and post there online id so members could join in if wanted :)
after games etc member post there wins the more wins you get the higher you climb the sat universe rank and the top rank players could battle it out that would be good

maybe the the top rank player for 2012 could get a free top of the range dreambox with a holographic beamer onboard too from the sponsers of sat univers

Hi, all:)

Update:
Automatic Cleanup plugin 0.2.5-r0 OE2.0 (Full version - if you download from feed, you only get light version!)
- Performance improvement: avoid duplicate cleanup of orphaned movie files if EMC movie_homepath is same as E2 moviePath
- Remove orphaned files in movie path marked for E2 smooth deletion (during session start only, to avoid conflicting E2

-------

Will have to report a bug at DMM - noticed that my boxes don´t behave according to setting in Dreambox menu/Settings/System/Adapt(?). I set "return to last service at the end of playback of a recording", but the boxes display freeze frame. Then I tried setting "Ask what to do at the end ..." - same result, not asking, only freeze frame at the end of playback. Don´t want my tv set to get ruined in case, I don´t notice frozen picture for a longer period.

**********

Goliath dreambox with flexible configuration, good idea, naveed68:), but all must work as easy as a docking station for harddisks on a pc.
There should be a basic receiver model with basic functions that could be updated by inserting cubes into slots that can´t be mistaken for anything else.

Building a satreceiver from scratch is no good idea for everybody. Those who know how to do, could as well build an HTPC of their own (Windows/Linux) or find solutions for MAC, but many people want the easiest way, possible - a ready for use built machine. So just only updates - different capacities of hdds, number of tuners, bluray/dvd, flash, LAN, WLAN and more - all to be inserted into slots without opening the housing.

Disadvantage: If anything goes wrong - you don´t always easily find out which component is to blame (except you know how to find out the faulty parts.). Sometimes had problems with own devices. My self built pcs - most were o.k., but two were very naughty ones (both with mainboard of a company that I never will have a mainboard from, again) - always instable and not reliable. I didn´t find the cause and then i had to discuss with component seller(s) - yuck. Now I buy complete pc from companies that allow configuring my favourite machine, but grant guarantee for the pc as a whole. Wouldn´t ever want to buy all single parts and then assemble a pc again.

---

If top rank player gets prize - dreambox with beamer - all 330000 SU members will start rehearsing and new members may join board. I doubt that I can beat them all can you, naveed:D?

maybe your first idea then Goliath dreambox with flexible configuration, good idea,

dreambox gives you the option to order allready built or you have the option to upgrade parts such as processer or network card.

i feel a little bit disapointed that the that the new 7200 hd has a faster processer than the dm8000 hd and its cheaper..

or something like an option where you can send your dm8000 away to be upgraded.

i think that there should be an option for an upgrade now but probably there never will be maybe you will be able to have these parts replaced if they went faulty but why carnt we have upgraded parts installed ?..

maybe the reasons are the boards are out of date and wont run the 400 mhz processers or maybe dreambox would rather just make a new box and make there money that way ..

but im sure that many dm8000 owners who have spents 860.00 would be happy if an upgrade was to be come available as i would most defenatley feel less disapointed if there was an option for this.

i think your probably right about home build not being agood idea as i remember the first pc i built i got to much thermal paste on the proceser and fryed it  but i had payed my build insurance so i was ok .. but i do feel that removable part for processer and network card should be an option or at least there should be an option for a collect and return upgrade service certainly on there flagship models at least.

but all in all i am quite happy with my dm8000 hd and so far i havent had any issues in almost 3 years of owning it apart from dodgy images which is out of dream multi medias hands all in all i have enjoyed the advancement over the years from new plugins to blueray and still there is further advancment being made which all in all is qute good :D. i have also enjoyed top calss picture quality and i was chuffed to bits the first day i got my dm8000 i would love to have that feeling back again via an upgrade

DM8000 still very good box, naveed68:) - there will always come new hardware like Goliath or whatever and then older hardware is second choice (and gets cheaper in prize;)).

One thing annoys me a bit and I complained at DMM board, today. Since I switched to OE2.0 it´s not reliable any more, if recordings get flawless or not. In addition (I mentioned in post above) important setting gets ignored (Freeze frame at the end of movie playback instead of return to live program - just only imagine falling asleep for a few hours in your living room chair and freeze frame may ruin the display of your tv set with burnt in picture. Even modern LED tvs still don´t like freeze frame for long time.)

The whole thing annoys me especially, because we are testing OE2.0 functions (Webbrowser/HBBTV) that will never run fast on today´s hardware - neither on dm8000hd nor on dm7020hd. Performance on these boxes will always be a bit low. Maybe DLNA, new teletext (on both boxes), Bluray burning (on dm8000) and HDMI-CEC (on dm7020) will at least be satisfying.

I demanded at DMM today, developers should first solve problems with basic functions and afterwards go on with those functions that anyhow will work satisfying on Goliath, only. (Whatever Goliath may be:rolleyes: and whenever it may come ...)
Like s.b. on DMM board complained: What´s the use of a webbrowser, if it´s as quick as spilled honey flowing down a glass panel?

-----

Yesterday first freezer on client box again, when it was in standby. Today I´ll seperate both boxes (Rename config and restart CAM). One box only FTA then. But maybe both boxes with flawless recordings?

-----
-----

Removed my noisy original 60mm fan in one of my dreamboxes, today and replaced it by silent Noctua 92mm (attached to housing cover with rubber fixings) - what a difference! Temperature much lower (38oC instead of 51oC near power supply) and fan rarely to be heard when it is at full speed (what it is very seldom - e.g. when starting the dreambox.:)

-----

As soon as OE2.0 runs flawless, we´ll perhaps all get that happy feeling again, that you were talking about, naveed68 - that we had with our boxes when we got them new.:thum:

on my pani i can enter the installers menu and set a rolling screen this will get rid of any burnt image if tv is left on for to long ..with still image.

im not sure about your tv but it might be worth a look to see if theres a hiden installers menu you can access either by the your tv buttons or your remote...

i know what you meen about burnt images on screen but i only really seen them from xbox games or ps3 games or pc games or just very bright images or high end grapics most tv built now a days are a lot better and i am seeing less and less burnt images on modern sets and i do test lots and lots each month..

i havent had any burn images from dreambox i did get one from an old xbox once.

there are things you can do to remove burnt images if you get one like just leaving a clear white blank background from pc on over night it does work.

i know you said that when you tryed a 2.5 you had spoiled recordings i never got any spoild recording from my dreambox and i have had no probs at all since switching to a 2.5 sata and of course theres allways cccam if your client is not that brill this will always do you the most damage .. and of course theres allays the satellite coax cable and lnb from dish it maybe worth gettin signals measured direct from lnb and then measure the signal at the other end of coax to see if there is much drop out

but when i had my 3.5 i also had the fans on like you and i also had a dvd writer on board i found that the tempetures would get quite high on the dreambox mostly when watching one high def and recording another high def this is why i feel an upgrade should becom availble but sinve switching to a 2.5 sata tempertures are not as high and i dont use the fans anymore ive not used them for months..

personaly though ara i would like to see an upgrade for network card and processer become available:thum:

cheers all have a great night :)

with the same new fan i have 44°C. is it normal?

yes m8 you have nothing to worry about processer on board the dm8000 can handle 72 celsius befor they fry and will quite hapily run all day and all night at 54 celsisus or 51 etc but idealy about mo more than 52 is safeish for the long run and durability and stability ...

but i think most people get confused about fans etc and there purpose they will help to stop joins drying out and parts getting to hot but idealy you should have one sucking in and one blowing out

hi, kamel_hail:)

44 oC depends.

Temperature in room (mine 23 oC)?
Fan where attached?
Harddisk 3.5 or 2.5?
Fan always running or not in standby?
Which side of fan upside? (Blow into dreambox, blow oout of dreambox)

I´d say it´s nothing to be worried about, especially not, if your box is running for some time already, your room has 30 oC and your hdd is 3.5 inch.

Just shot two quick fotos:
1. FanControl2 plugin pic: Box wasn´t on for long - perhaps 10 mins - room had 23 oC - hdd is 2.5. DVD writer built in. Received channel was HDTV.
2. Photo just to guess from position of rubber fixings, where I placed my fan.

--------

Thank you for proposals, naveed68:).
Don´t worry! Burning in of frozen pic didn´t allready happen - display is still ok.. (I woke up early enough:D)

But it could easily happen in future. I tend to fall asleep from time to time (mostly at 4 am) in my very comfortable motorized leather chair, when watching a movie, although I should be lying in bed.
(Got used to sleeping in that chair for months when I had broken vertebrae and couldn´t sleep without pain lying flat in my bed. Bad habit, still to stay in chair, when I get tired.
)

Spoiled recordings: Mostly on client box with 3.5 hdd. Host with 2.5 hdd has most recordings o.k..

Got a new 1TB 2.5 hdd delivered, today. Will replace 2TB 3.5 with it. (2TB back for use with Windows/NTFS again)
Just waiting for an ordered 2.5 to 3.5 silent adaptor frame to arrive. Otherwise I can´t attach 2.5 in dreambox.

It´s not the hdd, it´s not XFS or Ext3/4 - it´s network traffic, that interferes so badly.
(Other users have the problem, too and it´s not allowed to discuss about softcam on DMM board. I know from private mails.)
You rarely get the problem with only one dreambox - you most certainly come across it, when have two of them or other searching networking devices on same router.
It happens as well with CCcam as with SCAM. It´s only because both devices "chat" with each other from time to time over the network - what causes disturbance and spoiled recordings.

That´s why I must stop boxes from knowing each other (what is done in config file). In addition I´ll set overall timer settings on both boxes in a way that they won´t start at the same time when both record on primetime on different channels. Dropouts at the beginning of recordings of box1 very often happen, when a box2 starts seconds later from standby while box1 is already recording (and vice versa).

I´ll get all fixed some day and if not, ... I´ll change the brand and worry about maybe a VU+ Ultimo or else (hope I can avoid that:eek: - I spent too much time and money on dreambox repairing measures, already) - but I like solving of problems:D.
