welcome, rahimi29:).

-----

Just for those with spoiled recordings. Seems that network traffic may be responsible - found out yesterday and reported on DMM board. Hopefully they can fix s.th..

For my boxes it helped to rename the configs of my emu and to restart the emu.
Then, of course, emu only works with smartcard in one box.
Other boxes only work with FTA channels (+ channels with keys).
Recordings flawless, when emu is not allowed to listen to network.

Yesterday 6 flawless test recordings. Before I renamed config - testrecording 339 faults in 20 minutes.

(Need a new keyboard for my pc - always double letters:rolleyes: to correct.)

EDIT: @rahimi29

1.)
DCCe2 FTP window - automatically starts with / (root) preselected in left half. Just search the three files in right half of DCC2 FTP window (with your folders on your pc) and copy them to left half of the window.
2.)
Then click on Telnet button in DCCe2. In black Telnet window you enter /Softcam.sh (not Softcam.sh) and press Enter button.
You should then see commands being excecuted. Wait until they are finished and reboot box.;):)

Softcams without GP3

Hi ararat, many thanks for your useful information re the above.

Thanks to your concise instructions above, it was easy to install CCcam/CCcam+Oscam/Oscam/Scam without having GP3.2 installed.

I was also able to manually install Mgcamd without any issues.

These OE2.0 experimental images are getting updated frequently so it is very useful to know the manual and additional softcam install methods in order that you are not completely reliant on the GP3 plugin.

We´re already far beyond that, boxgot:) ... we know, that CCcam and all others are working. You quoted post from threadstart.

-----

For those with OE2.0 on dm8000hd (not dm800 - I had an extra file for that, but I can´t find it any more), who need emu, but don´t want to use GP3 for some reason, I´ll attach a zip-file here which I tested working o.k. on my dm8000hd.

What it does:
Installs emus + script-starter-tool to use cams (CCcam/CCcam+Oscam/Oscam/Scam) without having GP3 installed.
Add own configs, if needed - not included.

Hi do you remember which file needed for dm800?????
Regards

I shouldn´t do this, because this is a DM8000HD thread ...
but, I don´t want to start posting in dm800 section, because I don´t have a dm800hd at home. As an exception I upload here (this post/file should and probably will be transferred/copied to dm800 thread sooner or later).

Didn´t have the file at home on hdd any more - had to search through the internet, but at last I found it.
Emu Install for Dreambox 800 without GP3.

To be used the same way as EmuInstall for DM8000HD.
README may not be 100% correct - I translated readme for 8000hd and changed the important parts (e.g. there are only two files for install on dm800 instead of three files on dm8000).

As I never possessed a dm800, I couldn´t test this file, but it was approved by board users where I downloaded it.

Good to hear, you managed the installation on your boxes successfully, rahimi29:) and cueball:).
I hope, the new file will work for you, too, robi62:).

Have fun with EM and a happy weekend:)!

Edit: We posted same time, naveed68:) - good to hear, recordings are flawless with new formatted hdd:thum:.
Will install a new one in one of my dreamboxes on monday, too. No time this weekend. But then I´ll try 2TB HDD and format with XFS.

hi, naveed68:)

3D should work with 3D plugin o.k..

In Dreambox menu / Settings / System / 3D settings
did you activate the plugin and did you set it to activate autmatically, when it detects split 3D video?
After installation of the plugin 3D is not activated, you must do manually.

Depending on what kind of 3D picture you receive you can set it to automatically start in side by side or in top/bottom mode.

I attach some pics here (side by side example).

Sorry the grabbed "3D settings" pic is with german text, but what I set in entries 1 and 3 means:
Line 1 "Activate Side by Side option in menu = YES"
Line 3 "Automatically switch to 3D = YES with Side by Side view"

I could grab split pic from tv, but it didn´t work with 3D overlay (still split pic was grabbed) - therefore some quick photos instead.

First: When dreambox detects 3D, you get two menus
Second: Then set your tv set according to setting in dreambox menu (e.g. side by side)
Third: Then you get 3D video with one 2D menu (photo is blurred - no flashlight - I slightly moved)

Wear your 3D glasses (In future, if "Dolby 3D" may get a standard - you won´t need them any more with new tv sets).

I don´t have any problems with 3D - but may be different, if you use shutter 3D glasses?
I´m wearing and preferring polarized passive 3D glasses (lightweight, no batteries, no flickering:)).

hi, naveed68:)

Dreambox menu Extensions / manage extensions (red button) / Display and Userinterface / Video Enhancement plugin;)
I didn´t install it - my pic is excellent, already.

Found a plugin for automatic system cleanup, that cannot be downloaded online with dreambox (only light version in dreambox extensions feed, but I found full version). Maybe, if I test it o.k., I´ll upload it here. But first I should install it myself, to find out.

Tomorrow, I want to replace HDD in my dreambox #1. 2TB instead of 750 GB and formatted with XFS instead of Ext3. Hope I get better recordings, then. So, I will be busy with replacing harddisk, formatting, recording and then analyzing recordings with ts-doctor.

Now, I´ll be lazy for the rest of the night:).

hi, naveed68:)

Enhanced AV settings plugin you find in
dreambox menu / settings / system / enhanced av settings

didn´t remember, where to find, therefore I installed it when I flashed my box #1 totally anew today with latest image 20120608. (But I don´t really need it - my picture quality is very good without the plugin, already.)
I installed a new 2 TB HDD and a fan and, because I wanted to use CVS without GP3, I flashed my box completely new today, without restoring any settings.

What an effort:rolleyes:!

After I had replaced my old hdd by the new one, I closed my dreambox again. I booted the box, let the hdd get mounted automatically by dreambox menu, recorded two minutes broadcast and thought, I was finished.

But then, after reboot, HDD wasn´t recognized and not mounted correctly any more. Dreambox couldn´t create partition, when I tried to initialize for a second time.
Well, - the whole afternoon went by, with me removing and attaching hdd from/to dreambox/pc - again and again.
In the end I downloaded a Knoppix.iso file from the internet, burnt that on CD and booted my pc from it. With "Gparted" I formatted the HDD with XFS file system. After FTP creation of movie folder I could mount the disk and record on it. Only short recording, but all settings remained after reboot:).
Assembled box 15 minutes ago.
If XFS HDD works without spoiled recordings, I´ll format disk in second dreambox, too.

Too lazy for upload of automatic cleanup plugin at this moment (It´s late - I am just using my MAC - the ipk-file is stored on my pc and I still need to translate a readme file), but I´ll upload it - it works o.k.. I already installed it on my boxes.

Leisure time:).

hi looks like the video enhancment plugin didnt install untill update of software i think i downloaded it befor last last update anyways i have it installed now..

my picture quality is excellent to but with the video enhancment plugin i use it at night time when the glare on my tv is to much for my eyes:eek:

i have very sentitive eyes and i find that reducing the contrast on tv isnt enough alway to dark befor i get rid of the glare i like the video enhancment plugin as i can always get the balance just right for night time viewing...

i think i might sell my tele and just go back to a 32 inch i neverd had so many head aches and saw eyes untill i upgraded to a 50 inch

can you please tell me the advantages and disadvantages in formating my dreambox hard drive into XFS file system

Hi, naveed68:)

Don´t try XFS too soon!
I only did that, because I always had spoiled recordings since OE2.0 and returning to OE1.6 didn´t change that.
One of the enigma2 developers on DMM board prefers XFS and advises not to use Ext4. So I gave it a try. No time to evaluate quality of recordings, yet.
(Flashed my second dm8000 today, attached harddrive to my pc, booted up from Knoppix CD and formatted dreambox hdd with XFS. Installed a fan in dreambox #2, too.

Installing XFS hdd in OE2.0 was a bit more confusing to me than installing an hdd was with OE1.6.
Mounting XFS hdd to /media/hdd and setting recording path to Harddrive didn´t do the job. Had to create movie (/media/hdd/movie) folder manually and then mount to that location. Afterwards entry "Harddrive" wasn´t available in recording paths any more, but my Harddrive could be selected by it´s original name (Samsung-XYZ123 or Hitachi-UVW456 or else).
Then correct path had to be selected with twice pressed PVR button.
Only then recording and playback was possible as usual.

Now both dm8000s run without GP3:D and with XFS hdds.

--------

Your eyes + tv:mecry::
Did you try activating "Energy saving option" and/or "Sensor for surrounding light" of your tv set?
I have both activated - so my tv´s brightness is being set according to the overall brightness in my living room. If it gets darker in my living room - tv gets darker, too. Therefore I´ve got no problem with my tv:), although I´ve got 50 inch 21:9 Philips tv, too. In addition I can activate "Ambilight", if needed (I rarely do). This LED light on the back of my tv set can be a relief for tired eyes, too and enhances comfort.

But I´ve got a problem with the monitor of my pc at this moment - much too bright for my eyes in my dark office (with lights still not being switched on here and sun going down outside).
-----
Have to feed my outdoor cat now ... before it´s getting too dark.

hi, naveed68:)

Ambilight is even better than flourescent light on top of tv. (Should the light be flickering in video - that´s only on recording - light doesn´t flicker in reality.)

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPpprgkaysQ&feature=related"]Philips PFL7606k Ambilight Demo The Lion King Intro - YouTube[/ame]

Only Philips got Ambilight built in (not all models, but many).

There is a way to do s.th. similar with so called "Atmolight". One has to buy LEDs and a commanding device (which can be attached to dreambox or a HTPC)

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bKzDEwKjEc&feature=related"]Poor men's Amblight - based on atmolight protocol with atmega32 -part2 - YouTube[/ame]

For OE1.6 there existed a dreambox plugin for atmolight. Don´t know if available for OE2.0, already. Never tried it because after some Sony and Panasonic tv sets I´ve now got 42inch LG 3D tv (bedroom - no ambilight/atmolight but LED stripe attched to backside of tv) and a 50inch 21:9 Philips 3D tv with ambilight built in.

-----------

Today I upload the Automatic System Cleanup plugin here, that i wrote about in post above. This is full version. Same plugin available (light version) as online download on dreambox feed.
Cleans harddisk from obsolete crashlogs, orphaned video files (modified in this version to support Enhanced Movie Center 3), timerlist entries and stored system settings. All can be set to own preferences.

Languages only English and German at the moment. Readme.txt is in Zip-file.
