Sheamus On His Relationship With HHH, Pushes In WWE


The following is an excerpt from an interview with Sheamus from The Daily Star in the UK:

“Lots of people complain that the top guys are keeping young wrestlers down.

“But, you know, in reality the top guys are looking for wrestlers to step up. They want young people to step up to that level – it’s what they’re waiting for. And I’ve worked my arse off.

“These guys are on top because they are the best. My goal is to be better than all of them. I don’t want to be first Irish champ. I want to be the best ever, the longest reigning champion.”

He revealed that Trip and Regal had been mentoring him.

“Yes, there are a few stories going around about HHH but the deal is that Trip has been fantastic.

“He’s one of the most successful WWE champions of all time. If you’re going to learn, then learn from the best.

“He’s been a mentor, but so have a lot of other guys. Arn Anderson and Finlay have been a big help. Regal has been great too – when I first came to ECW, I rode with him and he helped me so much.”

Jack sent along the following: Seeing as Bret Hart is set to return with WWE soon, I thought it would be a good idea to remind people of the history behind Bret's departure twelve years ago. Jesse Perez sent along the following: I just wanted to point out that when Chris Jericho was posing himself as Santa Clause this past Monday, his voice sounded a lot like Stewie Griffin from Family Guy. I don't know if you guys watch much Family Guy but if you really listen to the way Jericho was talking, you could really hear Stewie's voice under that beard. I guess Jericho was doing his best Family Guy impression!

Report: Another TNA Knockout In Danger of Being Released

Several news sites have been reporting that TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich may be on her way out of TNA.

I spoke with a source earlier today who has confirmed rumors that the TNA Knockout is on "thin ice" with the company. Apparently, TNA officials have soured on Von Erich as a member of The Beautiful People.

When Von Erich was brought into TNA, management was aware that her wrestling skills were lacking, however they thought her looks would be good enough to keep The Beautiful People a hot commodity on Impact even though Angelina Love had been released.

The hope was that Von Erich would continue to train and her wrestling skills would develop, and that in the meantime she would get over well in The Beautiful People because she is very attractive. However, TNA officials feel that Von Erich is not progressing well at all, and since The Beautiful People are not getting over as well as TNA had hoped, there is little need for Von Erich in TNA at this time. It is likely she will be departing TNA in the near future, although nothing has been confirmed at this point.

JR Speaks on His Future, Tyson/WWE & Wrestler Contracts

Jim Ross has posted a new blog over at JRsBarBQ.com. Below are some highlights:

"Have I called my last wrestling matches? Hell, no. Will I return to weekly TV for the long term? That's not too likely. Short term, weekly TV work may be in the cards and in a few months I may have a different mindset..."

"Tyson would be a great guest on WWE 24/7's Legends Roundtable if the subject matter was the WWWF from back in the day as Mike and I had many casual discussions about him watching WWWF religiously as a kid growing up in NYC. Tyson would be hard to beat in a WWWF trivia contest. Based on personal experience and being one on one with him, Mike Tyson is a different guy than the publics perception of him."

"Yes, in a "perfect world" all performers working for any company being full time employees with the traditional benefits would be ideal but the thought that individuals who are independent contractors cannot create their own benefits and take advantage of independent contractor status is not accurate."

Former WWE & TNA Star Kid Kash Arrested on Multiple Charges

The Kingston Times News has reported that former WWE & TNA star Kid Kash, real name David Cash, has been arrested on charges of identity theft, theft of property and forgery. Specifically, he was arrested on 4 counts of identity theft, 2 counts of forgery under $500 and four counts of theft of property under $500.

According to the report, the charges came about when Cash allegedly used the credit card of a female acquaintance four times without her permission.

Cash is maintaining that he had permission to use the card, and had used it multiple times with the female's permission.

Cash is being held on $10,000 bond in a Washington County detention center in Tennessee and is scheduled to go before the court on 1/4/10.

HBK And Bret talked a lot to begin Raw shook hands at the start of the show and apparently became friends again .
But Afterwards at end of Raw Vince came out to approach Bret and it looks liked Vince and Bret were gonna resolve thier issues but Vince once again had the last word and delivered a very Low Blow kick to Bret leaving him in some pain as Vince marched out of the ring leaving Bret to Stare him down and perhaps Tease a possible Wrestlemania match between Bret & Vince .

- Former WWE Diva Amy "Lita" Dumas will be appearing at the Steel City Con in Monroeville, PA at the Convention Center from August 6th until the 8th.

- CM Punk isn't working the SmackDown live events this weekend in Canada. Because of his absence, Rey Mysterio & Christian vs. Luke Gallows and a mystery partner are being advertised.

- Chris Jericho will also be missing the WWE events in Canada this weekend as his band Fozzy is performing in the UK.

- Law.com has an article where WWE is denying they fired Executive VP and General Counsel Jared Bartie for sexual harassment but he is gone from the company. A WWE rep said that Bartie "was not terminated by WWE. Jared Bartie and WWE have parted ways amicably. James Langham is acting general counsel for WWE."

Abyss Interview: Wanting To Wrestle Hogan, Evolution Of His Character

TNA star Abyss spoke to Brian Fritz of Fanhouse.com this week to promote Sunday's TNA Sacrifice event. To hear what Abyss said about his hardcore wrestling style, working with Mick Foley and Hulk Hogan dubbing him the "John Cena of TNA" and more, visit Fanhouse.com.Here are some highlights of what he said about:

The Evolution of his Character:

"I'm really proud of the character. I think it has matured a lot over the years. In this business, to keep any kind of a character at all, at any level, relevant for an extended period of time -- I've been with TNA for going on eight years and I've been there since basically close to the beginning -- so you gotta switch it up. You gotta try different stuff or you kind of get stale by doing just the same old thing. I'm proud of what we did with the character. I really like the original stuff. I really like the stuff coming back with the whites (clothing) and the insane asylum stuff. I really liked all that stuff and then the transformation now into the stuff with Hulk (Hogan). That's been obviously a dream come true. I've really enjoyed the different sides of it. I think that keeps the character interesting, when you can see him when he's happy, when he's angry, when he's sad, when he's mad. You see different sides of the character and that keeps the character kind of fresh."

Wanting to Wrestle Hulk Hogan:

"I would love it man. I think it would be great. It would be an honor, no doubt about it. It would be the biggest moment in my wrestling career. I sincerely doubt there would be a bigger moment in my career than me against Hulk Hogan in a singles match. I would love it and I think we could pull off something special. I have no doubt in that."

The Best Advice that Hogan Has Given Him:

"He's given me so much so I could go a million different ways to answer this but I'll go this way with it," said Abyss. "One of the things he's really taught me was to really use the story you've been given and incorporate it in your match and work smart. He's taught me to maximize the tools you're given when it comes to putting a match together and an angle together."

TNA Champion Rob Van Dam spoke to ">SLAM Wrestling this week to promote Sunday's TNA Sacrifice pay-per-view. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

The Way He's Used in TNA vs. How He Was Used In WWE: "In WWE, a lot of times friends would come to the show and say, 'Wow, you get the loudest reaction out of all the wrestlers here, how come you're not in the main event and how come they don't have any RVD T-shirts?' and that's what I always dealt with before. Now, I feel like I'm in a great position as champ. I have no doubt I'm going to do my part to show the best matches anybody has seen in TNA, so it's pretty exciting."

TNA's Move Back to Thursday Nights: "It's going to allow us to shine and grow. And from what I can see, most of the other boys seem to feel the same way. Dixie told us that this was from listening to polls from the fans and I think probably SpikeTV also wanted it and it really seems like it will be a good thing now. WWE, they own Monday night and that's not going to change."

TNA's Monday Night Run: "Dixie (Carter) never said, 'Hey, we're going to beat the hell out of them on Monday nights, we're going to take over and own it. She always said, 'We know we're going up against a much bigger company, we're doing this slowly, we're going to try to win battle-by-battle.' She always seemed to have everything in perspective. As long as it didn't put too big of a hole in them financially, I think it was a great move."

New TNA Tag Champions, Abyss vs. Wolfe Stipulation, TNA Signs a Knockout & More

- Devin sent the following: TNA will be holding a house show during the La Porte County Fair in La Porte, Indiana on July 24th, 2010. Tickets go on sale this Saturday

- As noted before, Abyss vs. Desmond Wolfe will take place at Sunday's Sacrifice pay-per-view with Chelsea and the Hall of Fame ring on the line. If Abyss wins possession of Chelsea, he will have her for 30 days.

- Team 3D sent out a press release yesterday announcing that TNA has signed a student from their wrestling school in Florida, Betsy Ruth. This is the same woman that injured Daffney a few weeks ago in a tryout match. Other graduates from Team 3D's wrestling school who have been with WWE or TNA include Jesse Neal & Rob Terry in TNA, Donny Marlow in WWE developmental and Patrick Brink, who was once with TNA.

- Scott Hall and Kevin Nash are your new TNA Tag Team Champions after Nash cashed in his Feast or Fired briefcase on last night's iMPACT. Nash came out and pinned a downed Matt Morgan after Samoa Joe came out and beat Morgan up in an un-related attack.

The Difference in Pay For Men and Women in TNA: "Wrestling does appear to be a man's sport and in true tradition, women are traditionally not paid as much as their male counterparts. It (the payscale) is out of whack. Thats why instead of staying, I think everyone should come to a happy workplace and not to poison or be a bad egg, just leave the scene altogether and find something else."

Working For Ring of Honor: "I'm not officially with the company yet, this is like a one night stand type of deal. I have a lot of unfinished business before I can officially join ROH and that is something that I am open to. They take wrestling here very serious.....I would definitely be interested."

Her Beef With Bubba the Love Sponge: "There are things that happened backstage that should remain backstage. That's why going on the program and speaking on what had happened, I shouldn't have done that. I should have just kept it backstage. What happens backstage remains backstage and thats how it should be.

"He took it out on the radio. That drew me out a bit and I should know better. I've been in this business, I know this business, I respect this business, he doesn't. People in our business can't allow other people who don't understand our business that because he wants to be a worker so bad and no one wants to play with him, people allow their friends to get away with things like that.

"The product definitely has changed, and since I am a wrestler, and this is pro wrestling for me, I took myself out of that particular product....of that equation, especially since it didn't make sense monetarily."

Tuesday's NXT Broadcast:"NXT was a surprising show Tuesday night. I am a reality show fan by and large and have always thought that NXT would be more effective it we fans could see the NXT rookies outside the arena environment to be able to get to know them better. Perhaps the 2nd version of NXT will provide that. "

Bryan Danielson's Future: "Daniel Bryan aka Bryan Danielson is by far the best pure wrestler of the NXT group, eliminated or not, and no matter what his name may or may not be today."

Comparing Randy Orton to Steve Austin: "Randy is merely being his TV persona but it does have some Austin-esque qualities. Randy just has to continue to put his own, individual touches on his fan favorite persona of which I have very high hopes for as time goes on."

Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin on 7/3: "No...Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin won't go 5 rounds on July 3 in Las Vegas. I hope to secure a pair of decent seats to this one and enjoy a few days in 'Lost Wages' with the Mrs."

Eliminations do little to boost this week's WWE NXT rating

The consistently weak ratings performance has proven that WWE NXT is not getting over as an entertaining weekly event for many WWE fans. Supporters of the show have nonetheless been holding out hope that the actual 'elimination' element of the show might still drum up some interest.

It did not.

According to PWTorch.com, Tuesday's show drew a 0.8 rating, which was essentially in line with last week's disappointing number. Mediaweek adds that the show did 1.079 million viewers with an adults 18-49 rating of 0.4; last week's show did 1.008 million viewers with a 0.3.

This week's show featured the eliminations of Michael Tarver, Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson) and Skip Sheffield.
