Once upon a time there lived a cruel king who thought death penalty the only suitable punishment for all criminals in his country. But he wanted his people not to hate him and therefore he pretended to give a second chance to all prisoners:

The king had a little wooden box with two tiny little bowls inside. As he maintained, one bowl was a white ivory one and the other made of black ebony. If a (blindfolded) prisoner drew the white ivory ball he would be considered innocent and be set free, if he drew the black ball he was guilty and got killed.

The prisoner must draw one bowl - not two or none at all - and there was no way to cheat (exchange bowls, colour them, etc.). Cheaters would get excecuted.

Nobody ever drew a white ball. All were excecuted and people knew for sure that the king was telling a lie. There were only two black bowls inside his box.

But one day a prisoner had an idea that saved his life.
Which one?
