Hi, Thanks, I found it is a bug with the firmware p177 for the Strong 4922B+ just for 4080 on I-19. I upgraded to 185p F/W and all good now with same key. 4180 still not de-crypting. I think its double encrypted now and not true Power VU.
Cheers

I have 4080V working ok with the keys that are floating around, they will not decode on a Strong 4922 but ok on my Openbox.

Can someone explain the data format of these keys please? When I input manually they do not work. The "ident" is 5 digits long but the data is 4 characters (2 bytes). I have tried to convert from hex to decimal and its also not working. I have TM5402HD Mk 3.

e.g.:

P 0123 01 1234567890123456

P is Pvu..
0123 is the ident - is this hex or decimal? how does it fit to a 5 character string (00123 or 01230, or ??)
01 is ??
12345..etc is the key (only 7 bytes, so the 8th byte is 00?)

Thanks

P -> PowerVU identifier
0123 -> Channel ID or Ident
01 -> Key index. It can be 00 or 01.
12345678901234 -> Key. It's 7 bytes in PowerVU system.

About the ident.
- Some EMU's extract it from the ECM this way:
81 30 3D 30 37 20 0E 00 00 00 00 2A A0 00 06 08
DC 55 AD 02 02 84 98 A9 88 F8 87 B1 00 F8 61 00
00 59 3E 89 06 2E 2D 26 5F A8 33 CD 13 EB 22 53
4A E1 71 F1 A8 81 88 3E A8 03 AF 2F 51 BB B7 FA
Ident: F861
Some of them use 61F8 as the ident and some of them use the SID (service ID) of the channel as the ident, here.
Also there is an emu that just uses 0000 as the ident! because it's very easy to create a loop and iterate over the existing keys and find a working one, very fast. This method should be used by the EMU writers. They shouldn't forget this rule: "Don't make me think!"

Thanks for the info; very helpful :)

I still can't figure out why my keys aren't working though. I lost all keys when incorrectly updating from the wrong file, now I can't over-write the data.

So I edited the keys myself to match the data format exactly...and it's still not working. So I have no idea what I have done wrong.c The key data looks correct but I am not sure about the ident.

Take the 4.8E horse racing channels:

Ident = 00048
Key 01
Data: 3A xx xx xx xx xx D2 00 (00 is "empty" as only 7 bytes)

Not working...any ideas why?!

Thanks!
