I seem to have left out the below mentioned features in
Changelog for CVS Image
2013-03-02). - the ones that I talked about in my quoted sentence already.
More updates may (but needn´t) be available with online update of dreambox (Those which possibly can not yet be included inside the image file above, because they were only uploaded four hours ago to git.)
- linux-dreambox: removed dummy config option from defconfig (not implemented in brcmnand and not needed)
- base-files: recreate
ubifs /data partition entry in fstab on base-files install/update
- use
UBI/UBIFS for dm8000
- use
UBI/UBIFS for dm7020hd and enable full 1GB flash space
- add possibility to build dreambox
UBI/UBIFS NFI images (thanks to gutemine for some tests)
- linux-dreambox-3.2: add some patches for
ubi/ubifs support
- linux-dreambox-3.2: Add patch to limit max nfs rwsize to 8K (thx to pieterg, Erik Slagter and sjaaky)
The most interesting ones are those on
new support of UBI/UBIFS filesystem on dreambox 7020HD/8000HD (other boxes may follow). Before this firmware only JFFS2 filesystem was supported.
JFFS2 uses 10% less space in Flash, but UBIFS boots faster.
What does this allow?
Boot your dreambox 7020HD/8000HD about 30 sconds faster from standby (former called "
deep standby").
Use complete 1 GB Flash on dreambox 7020HD instead of only 256 MB.
(and some more positive effects on flash organization)
(News on this in german language!
http://www.dreambox-blog.com/index.php/7695/enigma2-update-30-sekunden-schnellere-boot-zeit-mit-ubifs).
BUT
ubifs will NOT automatically get used if you only update your existing firmware online.
A complete new flash of the box of firmware is needed.
Or a conversion if you like to try a new plugin called MARSU, (THX to Gutemine), that can convert your image from jffs2 to ubifs.
Whatever you choose, better back up your existing firmware with DFLASH backup plugin, before you do the step from jffs2 to ubifs!
You may
either
flash your box completely
new, using latest firmware that already supplies you with ubifs
(
CVS 2012-03-02 / Merlin 3 2012-03-03 already do - ask developer teams about ubifs support, if you are using different firmware _ I don´t know them all - so all examples are for CVS and Merlin images mentioned above.).
Afterwards you need to install your plugins, restore bouquets, settings, etc..
or you may
use MARSU:
update your box online to get latest
CVS 2012-03-02 or Merlin 3 2012-03-03 packages.
Don´t use Marsu on older firmware or firmware without ubifs support because latest packages and latest kernel (kernel-image >= 3.2-r10.40) need to be installed on your box!
Install MARSU plugin
Restart enigma 2
Start MARSU plugin and let it convert your firmware (GREEN button)
(MARSU will store an *.nfi file on your harddrive - usually to
media/hdd/backup if you don´t change the path in options)
Flash this converted image to your box (e.g. with webbrowser or DFlash).
All your settings, plugins, bouquets should work like before
.
REMARK: MARSU plugin functions presumably later get implemented in DFlash plugin. Therefore MARSU comes without the ability to flash images to your box - only to convert and back them up.
