Images with Bootloader 70 are killing clones

can confirm that no sim cheap mean no boot, dreambox will just display an error,

anyone got a sim reader? if so try reading the contents

trying to boot into flash mode, i.e keeping on button press gives the same error without the sim card

Dude, this is COMP128-V2 SIM card, you cant just "read" it with $5 cardreader. This card cannot be cloned.

Yeah, I realised eventually it was the v2 chip, no chance there then.

Anyway, I managed to install the latest version of Barry Allen on to a clone running nabilosat 0.7 with bootloader 69, bypassing BA's check on new bootloaders, this was the easy part. Don't know how useful that is to anyone

extract the file preinst - this has the secondstage bootloader check removed
open up your favourite ftp tool, browse into the /tmp folder of the dreambox
now install barry allen ipkg the normal way,
quicky jump into your ftp program, refresh and new directories will be created by BA, quickly overwrite the preinst file,
barry allen should install fine ...



Installing latest images into mb images is a no no, i think it must be the updated drivers that causes it to hang

Guys, do you know why my the Mac address of my box change, when i install an image with bootloader up to 62 (i tried with gemxxx 3.80, and it's the real mac address of the box, but with any image including bootloader 67 or 69, the mac address change to another address (always same address)...

Could this be an avenue -:

Install Barry allen onto a clone box as above
Plug USB into original box and install nabilosat 0.9 as multiboot
Then plug usb into the clone and boot

? How does Barry Allen boot multiboot? Where does it check the second stage bootloader

Whilst installing bh 0.8 on multiboot i was keeping an eye on the directories, mb_images/nabilosat0.8.../tmp and here you will see writenfi and secondstage.nfi , with secondstage.nfi being bootloader 70 or as far as I can tell, i think it is extracted from the image... are these significant?

dreambox 800 will check for the presence of a sim card before it will continue to boot, putting any sim card doesn't work so lets try the following on a clone box

install original sim card into clone and flash new bootloader,

then put the clone sim back in a see if it boots,

it would be interesting to know if it work ...

PS: I could build ipks and nfi files out of the *.bin loader files, because the tools and process is known but DMM has reasons not to post them yet, so why should I annoy them - look at the calender it is weekend, on Monday you will probably get them anyway ?! And if you really want to test this completely new stuff you can follow the procedure from above

new clones are compatible with the latest bootloaders

looks like the sim problem has been solved, existing clone users will need to source the new sims. They are quite easy to install though.

hoping these are provided free of charge by clone providers but it's going to be a cat and mouse game with DMM and may not worth be the hassle in the long term

Excuse deadman 23, this metode posted don't work but the folder BA in /tmp it does not exist, I have decompile barry Allen plugin with 7zip and replaced the file preinst, but I do not succeed to recompact barry allen plugin.
