Daniel Vera sent along the following: Hey, just wanted to say that I had a chance to meet one the greatest wrestlers of all time. I met the Hall Of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart yesterday in San Jose, CA. for an autograph. He was there to take pictures and sign autographs which I think was really cool. He is really soft spoken, nice with all the kids, overall he seems like a really great guy. I just wanted to share my experience.

Note On WCW In The South, Orton/Wikipedia Error, More

Dean Schaub sent along the following: Hey, I just read your post about the Prince Fielder situation being compared to WWE. Last night on the Atlanta Braves telecast color analyst while watching the video deadpanned, "That looks like something out of WCW..." I guess in the south it will always be WCW!

Derrick Rosser sent along the following: On Randy Orton's Wikipedia biography, his theme song is "Voices by Rich Luzzi". The theme song is actually by the band Rev Theory, which Luzzi is one member of.

WWE Referee Name Changes, SD! Crew In Alberta, More

Bradley Grover sent along the following: On the Wikipedia entry for the WWE roster, new names were given to 2 of the referees. Justin King, the African-american referee who debuted a few weeks ago, is now listed as "Noah Wilson" and FCW's Rod Zapata is now listed as "Rod Vista". This is an odd move as the names of the referees are not given on TV.

The WWE SmackDown! crew will be working a house show tomorrow night (Monday, Aug. 10th) in Reed Deer, Alberta.

WWE Planning 3-Hour RAW Special With Big Show vs. Shaq

ShaqAccording to F4WOnline.com, there are discussions right now in WWE about running a three-hour live RAW special in September centered around a Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal singles match.

The entire deal is based now on whether or not it can be put together in time or not, as the NBA pre-season starts in September as well, and Shaq has a big year with LeBron James.

New JR Blog: Bret Hart At RAW Tonight?, Slaughter, HHH

Jim RossThe following is an excerpt from the latest online commentary from WWE Hall Of Famer announcer Jim Ross:

"HHH guest on NBC's Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon this Tuesday which will be good for WWE, Raw, and Summerslam. I thought HHH was really entertaining last week on Raw and definitely has a marketable sense of humor that perhaps we don't get to see enough of on TV. I personally like seeing another dimension added to "The Game's" tough guy persona.

Nice to hear that Ricky Steamboat, Jr. is now competing in Puerto Rico. Getting all the worldly experience that he has received in wrestling is great training for young Steamboat who, as I mentioned long ago, is going to be a big star in wrestling if he continues to improve and stays healthy. The son of "The Dragon" is being schooled perfectly and is getting used to life on the road, different styles of in ring styles and will be so far advanced from the young men and women in a training camp it won't even be close. Nothing can replicate young wrestlers getting ready for "Broadway" like wrestling a variety of competitors in a multitude of environments. Plus, getting used to being a responsible traveler is also a benefit.

It will be interesting to see how the Calgary fans respond to Sgt. Slaughter Monday night on Raw. Nationalism may well reign supreme or the fans may look upon Sarge respectfully considering that he is a former WWE Champion as being a WWE Hall of Famer.

I have no idea if Bret Hart is going to be in Calgary when WWE passes through Monday night but it would be great to see him if he were. I know I speak for many who will be in attendance when I say that. "

Update On Dr. Ken/WWE: Will He Return?, His Bump, More

The following is from Timothy Tse & PWInsider.com:

I won a screening of The Goods from my local radio station here in LA at the Paramount Studios and who else but Dr. Ken showed up before the movie began. He pretty much just pumped everyone up and even brought up his appearance on Raw, explaining that Jeremy and him are still banged up from the appearance. Unfortunately, when he asked if anyone saw it, only about 3 or 4 people in the audience cheered.

Anyway, after the movie was over Dr. Ken stood near the exit and shook everybody's hand and thanked them for coming, which I thought was pretty classy. Since Summerslam is going to be in LA, I asked him if I'd be seeing him there, which he said unfortunately he'd be shooting a movie and probably wouldn't be able to make it. I asked if we'd be seeing him again in WWE and he put over his experience huge, saying he'd love to and he had so much fun and all the guys were really great.

Finally, I asked if his head is ok after the rough landing on it and he just laughed about it and said he's fine and feeling great. Really nice guy, nothing like the characters he portrays, and I really got the impression that he had no regrets or held any grudges for the botched spot, which really surprised me.

Oh yeah, the movie was really funny and I'd recommend it. They even included a small wrestling reference in it which I thought was pretty neat.

Report: Backstage Heat on Current ECW Star


It's being reported that following the match between Christian and Zack Ryder on the July 28th edition of ECW, several WWE officials were not pleased with how quickly Ryder seemed to blow up in the match. There were several Ryder supporters, however, that argued in his defense claiming that he shouldn't have been expected to perform at such a high level considering he is rarely booked in matches that long and is rarely booked on house show cards. It's being reported that Christian, on the other hand, received high praise from most officials for his ability to carry Ryder and pull off a good TV match.

This Week's SD! Taping, Special Foley Appearance Tonight

The Tuesday WWE television tapings for SmackDown!, ECW and portions of "WWE Superstars" in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is looking to be a sell out. The show is almost sold out now already.

Mick Foley will be making a special appearance at the TNA Wrestling live event in Alexandria, LA. tonight. Also confirmed for the show is AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe, Homicide vs. Daniels vs. Consequences Creed, Beer Money Inc vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir & Kiyoshi.

Details on Current Mysterio/Ziggler Plans, Ted DiBiase Videos

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that prior to Night of Champions, the creative plan was to have Dolph Ziggler go over Rey Mysterio and win the IC Title at the PPV. However, Mysterio was apparently unhappy with the idea of losing yet another title after winning it just a few weeks prior to the PPV, so he insisted that he have a longer title reign this time around. This dates back to Rey's unhappiness with the way he was booked as the World Heavyweight Champion and he felt that this time around he deserved a long title reign where he could establish victories as opposed to another lame duck championship run.

WWE Announces that WM25 Will Make its TV Debut on NBC

WWE has issued the following press release:

NBC PRESENTS THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF WRESTLEMANIA - THE WORLD TELEVISION PREMIERE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29 AT 9PM/8C

New York, NY - August 10, 2009 - For the first time ever, NBC and World Wrestling Entertainment, the leader in global family entertainment, have combined high-impact WWE action with music from some of the industry's biggest stars to present "The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania - The World television Premiere" on Saturday, August 29 at 9 pm ET/8c. The special will relive all the action and excitement of WrestleMania 25 in one lightning-fast hour of groundbreaking music television.

JR Teases a Superstars Match, Y2J's 10 Year WWE Anniversary

Jim Ross has posted the following in his latest blog over at JRsBarBQ.com:

A WWE Superstars bout, WGN America..Thursday 8/7central... will be taped Monday night, likely after Raw concludes, which, I would assume. will feature the Hart Dynasty in some incarnation. If this happens, this will be a thrill, I'm sure, for the trio of Calgary natives who will get to perform in the ring at a WWE event in their home town before friends and family. I'm sure that the Calgary faithful will welcome the young Hart's back home with open arms."

Today is the 10th year anniversary of Chris Jericho's departure from WCW and arrival on WWE Raw. He posted the following on his Twitter account today: “Today is the ten year anniversary of my debut appearance in the WWE. I wonder how many people that were on the roster then are still here?” and “Taker triple h hbk kane funaki regal show hardys edge Christian henry that’s all I got…”

TNA Star Returns To Ref At Recent House Shows

Former TNA star Dean Baldwin, the missing Baldwin Brother, appeared for TNA on the last series of house shows as the second referee with Earl Hebner.

Baldwin first appeared in TNA as a guest on Glenn "Disco Inferno" Gilberti's short lived talk show, JIVE TALKIN on the August 14, 2002 TNA PPV from Nashville, TN.

Baldwin was at the show visiting and was called into action to replace "Slick" Johnson who had a very serious family emergency that prevented him from being at the shows.

Hulk Hogan Undergoes Surgery; Wants to Return to the Ring

In a segment taped for the VH-1 show "Brooke Knows Best," Hull Hogan revealed that he wants to make a return to pro wrestling and opted for laser surgery to repair some serious back issues that have been causing him extreme pain and even numbness in his legs. The procedure is done entirely with lasers, and is a much less invasive type of surgery than having to go under the knife, which could have side effects resulting in Hogan never being able to return to the ring. Following the airing of the procedure on Brooke's show, Hulk noted that he was feeling better immediately after the laser treatment.

More On Bobby Lashley, TNA, UFC & Spike TV


As Nick reported earlier UFC's Dana White recently noted that he is keeping his eye on TNA's Bobby Lashley.

It is my understanding that is one of the reasons he was signed by Dixie Carter to TNA, and that his TNA deal may be tied to Spike TV and it's relationship with UFC, and the potential of a Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley UFC fight in the future.

The cross promotion for such a fight would obviously benefit all parties, but could be very important to TNA in reaching more of the UFC audience were the fight to happen.

PHOTOS: Hogan's Laser Surgery, Steamboat Teams with Son

The UK Sun has photos posted of Hulk Hogan's recent laser back surgery.

It's being reported that Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and his son Ricky Steamboat, Jr will team up at WWC's Summer Madness show. They will be taking on Orlando Colon and Hiram Tua. The event takes place this Saturday and is the first official teaming of the father/son pair.

ECW Original Backstage at Raw, Possible DX/SSlam Spoiler

Joey Styles has updated his Twitter account noting that ECW original Lance Storm is backstage at Raw tonight in Calgary. Styles wrote, "Fellow ECW alum Lance Storm will visit RAW. We'll try to interview him for wweclassics.com. 50 SummerSlam matches are on sale for 99 cents."

In what could be considered a SummerSlam spoiler, the following matches are being advertised for the Smackdown/ECW taping taking place on August 25th, two days after the PPV:

-John Cena and DX vs. Randy Orton and Legacy in a 6 Man Tag Team Match.

-Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk in a World Heavyweight Championship Steel Cage Match.

-Rey Mysterio and The Great Khali vs. Big Show and Chris Jericho for the Unified Tag Team Championships.
