can someone explain to why do these new HD boxes still have scart lead outputs, what the point, your not going to buy a 300 euro HD box and connect to your tv via scart lead, surely all new HD boxes do not need a scart lead output, I would much prefer a second hdmi output or esata output

The following text is a machine translation of the page https://www.broadcom.com/products/Cable/Cable-Set-Top-Box-Solutions/BCM7424

Full HD resolution 3DTV set-top box SoC solution is produced in 40 nanometer technology, the BCM7424 is a high-definition (HD) 3DTV set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution for residential video gateways developed. It is the industry's first SoC with a 1.3 GHz dual-threaded MIPS ® applications to enable processor with the latest transmission efficient H.264/MPEG Scalable Video Coding (SVC), and Multiview Video Coding (MVC) standard 1080p60/50 content distribution and combine. full resolution HD 3DTV It also has a 1G pixel per second OpenGL ® ES 2.0 3D GPU for advanced 3D graphics acceleration and full home connectivity that includes Digital Living Network Alliance SM (DLNA ®) and integrated Ethernet MII and PHY support for connectivity with Broadcom Wi-Fi and powerline solutions. The provision of high levels of integration and performance, the BCM7424 designed to meet the needs of next generation connected home experience including a compelling and leading video content experience, more web-based software applications and the ability to stream content and connect devices in house and on-the-fly.

Features ultra-high performance BRCM 5000 MIPS-based applications processor with 3000 DMIPS processing power applications due to the unique and powerful 2D and OpenGL ES 2.0 3D GPU to further improve web-based support software platforms. Distributed processing architecture with a set top box an additional 3000 DMIPS (total 6000) multiple high-speed processors and hardware subsystem. Lower power consumption and higher performance 40nm CMOS silicon technology. The MPEG industry standard, SVC, that supports full-resolution HD 3DTV, and also enables a 40 percent bandwidth savings for backward-compatible 1080p60/50 content distribution to new and old STBs. Integrated Ethernet MII and physical layer (PHY) capabilities for connectivity with Broadcom wireless and powerline solutions. and available DLNA server / player software stack, multi-room DVR services for 5 or more IP STB client devices allows easier support and affordable home architecture that dramatically lowers the cost of capital. Custom high performance (430MHz) VLIW (very long instruction word) DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for audio editing. A wide range of time-to-market web-based connected home STB software applications environments, including Adobe Flash ® Platform for TV, Webkit HMTL 5.0, Java, Nokia's Qt Framework including qtwebkit, DLNA 1.5 and Direct FB Anwendungsbibliotheken.Einzigartige HD Fast RTV ™ channel change acceleration technology, the channel change speed improves by up to 500 Prozent.Integriert a real-time HD transcoder, the broadcast, over-the-top (OTT) and user-generated content is transformed into a broad range of resolutions, formats and bit rates that enable seamless content distribution connected devices both in the home and on-the-fly, and also provides advanced services, and video conferences
