10E Feeds..Signal Quality

Hi all....

NorthWest UK based here. Have problems with 10e signal. What min size dish do we need to prevent drop out? 80cm here....do I need to do some tweaking to get the best signal or a bigger dish? Get quality of 58-62 but drops out a lot.

What do other people use?

Any help would be welcome!

80cm Should be fine. I have 115cm NW England (Blackpool). Don't forget 9E and 10E are very close and some larger dishes see signals from 9E as being at 10E and vice-verca, so sometimes a feed can be reported as 10E when its actually from 9E, so maybe you just need to move your dish west a bit depending on the feed you are trying to get?

Thanks empb....

The positioning is pretty good to be honest. I can move it the degree and find 9e. Maybe I need to alter the dish angle a touch?

10E

Hi, Starturn,
You should not have any problem in receiving 10E.
Signal is strong enough for NW England with an 80cm dish too.

You could point your dish on 9E ( where signal is stronger then 10E ) and then calibrate it H/V and E/W to have the maximum of the signal.
Then you could move the dish to east for 1/1.5 degree about.

Pointing should be fine then.

However, you'll be able to receive both 10E and 9E channels if you do thing right.

Regards,
Klim

One thing not to try are blind scans when two reasonably strong sats that are close together degree wise. If you do there is a very good chance of receiving incorrect channels of a weaker signal on the wrong sat and therefor make a complete mess of your channel listing for those particular sats. Hope you understand what I mean,

Thanks Aerosmith

I do understand what you mean. My card TBS6920 doesn't support blind scan, so no danger of doing that!

Thanks for the reply.
