Vu+ Duo review of images !

I have been trying for over 1 week now several images for my new Vu+Duo! VIX - VTI - BH ...

each one of them has something the other does not have ! i guess thats why there are so many different ones right?

in anycase, i have found (and that is purely my preferance) the Black hole is the most stable one and an image that simply does what is needed from it ! i finally settled on the latest BH image and working on it now ! having said that, it is true that all of them where buggy in a way or another ! i mean, i am still unable to backup my BH image using my USB ! each time i try that, it freezes up ! and another one is the remote control button setting (found in VIX) is very limited BH ! (i am soooo used to use the OK button to open my menu channel section)

at the end of they day it is simply a preferance ! and nothing more !

I am a new Vu+ duo owner, i was very exited to receive it after all the various comments in forums and reviews, but i am still unable to see the difference between Vu+ Duo and dreambox HD 800 SE? (other than the 2 tuner) ! the actual size of the Vu+ is a disadvantage compared to the Dreambox HD 800 SE !! and both deliver the exact same ! i was told that the image on the Vu+ is far more sharp ! could not really notice the differance ! has anyone noticed it?:confused:

dont get me wrong, i do love this piece of art, but as a dreambox owner for over 5 years now, i have to say that i was a bit dissapointed.

3 quick questions:

1- Does anyone have a solution for the backup via USB (full image backup)?:mecry:
2- any speciffic options recommened to be added to the Vu+ Duo?
3- can i connect my Vu+duo to a shared HD on my network and watch my Divx movies from the receiver?

What plugin or script are you using for the backup.

You should download the one from the addons downloads under the scripts section USB version install it and then press green then blue to start the script. If it freezes i gues it could be USB related ive taken many backups with no problem using that script.

You can setup a ciff mount like any other enigma receiver and playback your movies.

Ive owned a Dreambox since the 500 launch and well im very pleased with the VU i also have a 800 and 8000 to compare it to. Have you had a enigma2 stb ?

You should see by reading a few posts that not all usb sticks are compatible & you may find yourself trying a couple before finding one that will work for you.

well the thing is that i used the same USB stick to flash my image on the Vu+ ... this is why i thought it was compatible then to use for the backup ! i will check to see if it is a compatibility issues !

If you have used it before then then i doubt if it's a compatibility issue.

Should take no longer than about 5 - 10 mins. It will probably appear to freeze just after starting but then goes on to complete the backup. I have never really timed it but it does seem an age when your staring at the screen though.

Ciff mount do as you do it on your 800 or 800se.

For your back up problem reformat your usb to fat32 then pop it back in the VU and use the device manager mount it.

Then download the usb backup script again, you have to do this as some of the files actually install to the usb stick.

Now try use the script.

Try it wired with no downloads it will work, if your playing back HD it takes some real bandwidth
