I believe It's your usb stick, many others have had issues with different usb sticks.
That procedure works on various manufacturers stb's Inc viark and technomate

I think you are going to have to recover it via the com port

We need:
- RS232 cable.
- Computer with connection to Windows XP and RS232. You can try later versions of windows but XP always works for me.
- Program "ALIUP.exe Tool".
- Firmware

1. Connect PC and receiver with RS232 cable, with receiver not powered on.

2. Open the "ALIUP.exe" tool on PC, choose the corresponding COM port for each.

3. Press "Open" to select the correct firmware, select it where you saved it and press "Open".

4. The file now appears in the "File" menu of the program.

5. Press "Start" and then turn on the receiver to power.

6. In the "Download" menu of the program starting to move a progress bar. When the process is finished, after several minutes, the receiver will reboot.

7. Disconnect the RS232 cable and turn off the power of the receiver and turn it back on after 5 seconds.

8. The receiver must be restored.

9. If the process is interrupted at any time or any error messages appear in the program, start again at point one and, if necessary, choose the different COM port in the program

Just a thought......

When you rename the file, are you typing update. bin or are you typing update?
It should just be update because the file is already seen as a .bin file.

Also, I have never had any success flashing a PT firmware this way. I have always had to use one of the latest original files. I use whatever the latest version is.

It can take several attempts to get it to work.

Remove power plug from box, insert USB in front USB port then with finger on power on button on box, replace power cord and do not remove finger from power on button until you see that it has seen the USB and the process will begin. If successful, you will have to then flash the latest PT firmware and all will be well again.

Personally, I have never tried as it always works with the front port, eventually. Sometimes first time.
I just know that i tried updating the dual last week and it would not see my usb slot in the front but it did read the usb in the rear. Different box and different procedure but worth a try for nothing.
