I suppose it is a question of what you are used to.

Years ago I started off with a 1.2m dish and I thought it was huge at the time.
Over the years with periodic dish size upgrades it does not take much to think a 2.0m dish is not that big.
Fair point. It's all about perspective once you start steadily increasing in dish size.

Hi Moonbase,

Can I ask what size dish you are using here in the UK to get the Bein channel signals from Es'hail-2 25.8East please?
Would I be right in thinking it's quite a large dish?

Thanks.

If you are in the UK, you should be able to lock the bein frequency of 10850H, SR27500 with a 1.5m dish depending on your precise location.
The frequencies on 25.8E are from the MENA beam which seems to be strongest in the South of the UK and drops off the further North you go.

OK, help me out here guys....what in your opinion would be a minimum size for Southern UK to receive the signals?

A 1.5m dish will probably only get you one of the bein's from 25.8E at a Southerly UK location.
If you are serious about it, I think you need to be looking at a 1.8m minimum and perhaps thinking about something a little larger?

It also depends on the quality of the dish.

And the quality of the installation/Installer

Thinking of having a play today with my mini dish. the 1.3m I have. Just out of interest do the signals fade like they use to do on 7w during the day? I don't expect to lock onto them as i'm in northern england but it gives me something to do this morning.

To be fare things did not go so well for me either. Dish up but ended up on 23.5 :) signal meter was giving a reading on 11996h. Time to maybe play later after the leeds game.
Do it now mate, no shooting boots on today. :censored:

Yeah at least the Viark performed.
It was hard to watch until the end, just nothing going for us today i could not wait to escape into the back garden. Went out afterwards and part the 1.3m dish and swung it around to 7w. I've done a blind scan but its been a couple of years since i was on that sat. I seem to remember far more channels that i've just scanned in.

That is because 2 new satellites Nilesat 201 & Nilesat 301 at this location cannot be received in the UK now with a small dish,
A 3 mtr dish is required for these tight footprints.
You should still get Eutelsat 7 West A at 7.3°W

Thank you for the info william-1, seems as things have changes a little recently. I am receiving a number of channels just not over 600 i used to be able to scan in.

Appreciate this information as well William. I have a 1.3m that was able to pick up a number of channels that have
moved from the Mena beam to the East Mena and East beams. I was considering getting a larger dish, say a 1.8m/2.0m
to try and get the signals again, but clearly even those sizes would not be enough.

Thank you, you have saved a lot of hassle and money.

I just rescanned 7°west & get 450 x TV with a 100cm Gibertini +Primo S2
I'll have a play over the next week and tweak it. It is at ground level and just clearing to the side of the garage and up on the west/south yorkshire border.
