Vantage HD7100S no communication

Hi all,

My previous receiver was a Humax5300, worked well but now I bought a HD reciever, the HD7100S. I used a null-modem cable with the Humax to edit channels and software. Now I installed Channel Editor 2.01 to communicate with my Vantage. Comport is set to COM1 as it is so and I tried several baudrates. Nevertheless I get no connection with the 7100. After the connection click, I got a "waiting for connection" message and then a "time-out error". The cable always worked fine with my Humax, so I assume hardware is OK. What program is adviced for the 7100? How do I perform connection? The humax had to be booted up to connect. Thanks for any advice. Frank.

You turn the power on after you see "waiting for connection" then wait to finish process and reboot.
AS For firmware ,you can also load by a flash Usb memory

Tnx for your reaction. Indeed I succeeded to put the latest firmware by USB stick. Also the keyfile works fine by USB. I tried to boot up the receiver while the soft is "waiting for connection". But I still get no connection to load the channels towards the PC. Is this the correct software for the 7100 or is there still something else I'm missing??

To load channel use a flash Usb memory as firmware and k*y.
Use a serial mode when stb is blocked only.

I had the same problem and it took me a while to figure it out.
In order to get communication between the receiver and your computer you first need to put your 7100 HD in the channel upload mode. This is done in the receiver menu. I have to go on memory because my receiver is out for repairs right now. Look through the menu I believe in the software section and you will see a place to select channel upload. when you select it you will see channel up on the front display. Now you can use the channel editor to pull channels from the 7100.

Hello Barret,

Tnx for the golden hint, indeed you have to go into the "software manager" and open the "channel upload". As I edited the parameters of 7 satellites (transponders missing or wrong parameters), I had about 4500 channels in my 7100. I performed a "OTA channel download" as a experiment, causing almost all channels lost and installing another firmware That's why I like to have some good backups on PC and also to edit and sort channels and put them in the correct FAV list. I'm afraid we will meet some trial and error before we have control about the Vantage . Tnx everybody for the hints.
