Well the VU has 2 sat tuners, DTT tuners are popular in Italy for the Terrestrial broadcasts so a USB tuner is perfect for this.

Here in Ireland they are introducing Digital Terrestial Television(DTT) and it gives extra channels, a bit of HD for sport and 10 radio stations so the USB tuner on the vu+ duo is a major item. Only difficulty at the moment is that RTENL are forever changing the video streams and bits of info are disappearing from the epg. I am waiting but now a new vu+ is on the way ie 3 tuners so more waiting.

both works fine

like Ferret says, i'm in italy and here the DTT is necessary for watch free channel and pay channel like Mediaset Premium

I was going by this

" The VU+ Ultimo will replace the VU+ DUO and will have Triple Tuners - The tuner modules are changeable S/T/C -it also doubles the on-board memory and future new BCM 7413 (400MHz) Broadcom CPU.
"

I was assuming I could have 2 dvb and one dtt or 1 sat. 1 cable 1 dtt.

But I am obiviously reading it wrong. What does it actually mean? Changeable??

Why state triple tuner? Does it mean box can handle 3 different tuners but only 2 at any given time?

thanks

I did not explain well.

The specs I had read were
1x Tuner fest, 2x Wechsel Tuner

Meaning

1 fixed tuner (sat) and 2 exchangeable tuners (can be made one terrestrial and one cable).

From pics I had seen it looks like sat tuner will be fixed (cannot be changed). Other 2 tuners can be changed (in fact they are pluggable type).

Does anyone know if the VU+ Ultimo DTT "exchangeable" tuner will support MHEG5? as this would be a great asset to have on the tuner.

Recently I also purchased the TeviiS660 USB tuner to extend my SAT reception and recordings from EAST orbit (90E- 1W) as I like to add 1 more dish to VU+DUO, but can't get it work properly (tested on a PC/NB the USB tuner works OK). Can I please get some advice, how to install it correctly ? This is step-by-step how I did it, probably there is something incorrect, but I can't find out what went wrong:

1. I installed a brand new image BH 1.6.2 from Flash via front USB using USB stick (with all other rear USB devices disconnected, so Tevii S660 is not plugged/connected into box)
2. Push Blue button on Remote 2x, to get extra plugin menu, select USB Tuner section, select one tuner, select Tevii S660, Install driver
3. After message " Now You can enable the USB tuner" I Plug -in the Tevii S660 to rear USB port, wait 10 sec to get recognised by OS, then press "Activate" the tuner using Remote
4. Reboot GUI, status shows Tevii is ACTIVE
5. Go to MENU/Setting/Tuner C, I select USALS for the new USB tuner, set Longitude/Latitude data, confirm OK, Exit Settings menu
(Tuner A is set as Diseqc, Tuner B is undefined - just for this test I have replugged the Koax from my motorised dish from Tuner B and connected it to USB Tevii)
6. Go to list of channels, select any FTA channel that works normally and the icon "dish rotating" is blinking - checking the dish - it really moves to a selected orbit position OK.
7. If I press OK on remote to see chanell info, signal strenght indicator shows 97% for the channel, but there is NO PICTURE at all, SD/HD channels, no diference.
8. Rebooting or powercycle the VU+ Duo while Tevii is conneted in USB results that front LCD on VU+ stays dark and box is not booting at all,
I have to unplug the Tevii first from USB and after boot repeat steps 2,3 to get it ACTIVE again.

Questions:
1. Is the above procedure OK or not ? (must both Tuners A and B be defined and active to get also the USB Tuner C working properly ?)
2. Shall I first plug in the Tevii before performing step 2 ?
3. How to operate the Tevii with the VU+ related to receiver power OFF/ON - does it need to be unplugged/re-plugged anytime when reciever is switched OFF/ON ?
4. Is there any aditional procedure neccessary to make the Tevii connected "pernamently" ? (similar as HDD or USB flash needs a "mount")
5. Are there any limitation in current driver for TEVII Tuner setings (Single LNB, 2x LNB-A/B, 4x LNB - A/B/C/D , USALS rotor, SD/HD channels display and/or recordings - all based on the user experieces) ???
6. What alternative FW/image for VU+ DUO can You advice to use with Tevii S660 ?

Thank You for Your response and support. :thum:
