technomate 500

hi everyone i want to know how to put softcam on tm 500, after i put the image do i use the same loader?, also are all the technomate softcam for any technomate? i read the guide for tm 500 and it does not mention anything about loading keys like tm9100, please help.

Hi mate

The 500 is a linux receiver as is the 9100 so you need to install dreambox keys.

Use keys from here

And use this guide which is for a dreambox but as long as you use the password for your TM image it will be fine.

It would be good to know what EMU and image you are using.

If your using the latest image you can also load the keys from the red button.

hello m8s i have been struggling with this box last night and this is what i could not get past its asking for password

Telnet Connected
FTP Connected

Bootmanager: not found.
Telnet Disconnected
Telnet login incorrect

530 Please login with USER and PASS
i tried user= root password technomate but no luck,
the box was done by a trader and i could not reach him as he is gone for holiday, please help.

Hello mate

When you boot the receiver do any splash screens have any info.

Did you purchase this new? Have you ever installed a image. If not we need to start from scratch.

Ok mate

Chances are if it has been left as standard the password will be blank on the UR image.

So you will need to give it a password before DCC will work with it as DCC requires a pass to work.

Try this with the app posted below

Ensure Telnet port 23 is open on your router.

Start putty and enter your Ip address and select the telnet connection type and click open.

At the Dreambox login type root and enter.

At password prompt just hit enter as i don't think you have a password set.

At the root@dreambox prompt type passwd and enter.

Now enter a new password and enter.And then repeat.

Two things to note at any of the password prompt in puttytel the cursor will not move with key input.

And now your password has changed you will need to enter the password in DCC.

this is what happen i used putty
welcome to microsoft telnet service
log in; i typed root then enter that was ok
password; i just pressed enter as you said,

logon failure unknown user name or bad password
login failed.

It appears mate that the trader you bought the TM from has applied a password or it has the dreaded UR2.0.20rev3 image which can lock you out.

If it was me id go back to your trader and ask what pass was applied or if he used the UR2.0.20rev3 image.

I can of-course help you to load a new image if you wish to do so.

Ok mate

We will do this with the TM Control Center. We have to use this with a Null modem cable as you do not know the password on your current image.

1. Download TM control center for here and extract it to a folder.

2. Download the latest image here.

3. Start TMCC with the TechnomateCenter.exe

4. Click on the serial tab.

5. Top option set the comport to the one you have your null modem cable connected to usually com1.

6. Now click the file button and select the unrared image you downloaded earlier.

7. Now in front of your TV switch the power OFF on your TM.

8. Press in and hold the UP ^ button and then turn the power back on youll see a setup screen in front of you.

9. Press the up button for serial update then the right > button and then the ok button. This will start the image upload. Wait till it confirms the process is done.

10. Now turn off the power leave it for a min and then turn it back on.

At this point it will go through the standard setup procedure if you need help give us a shout.

i bough null modem cable and Started TMCC and set comport 1 then clicked serial tab hen file button selected the image, switched the power OFF on the TM, at this point I Pressed in and hold the power on button but coud not see a setup screen all i see is the power coming on again. shuld i see the set up screen on the tv or the receiver as i'm not connected to tv, where am i going wrong, i sored my eyes and pulling my hair out please help. cheers.

Now with the power OFF on your receiver, press and hold the UP ^ button and turn the power on, ensure your TV is set to the correct AV channel, and you’ll see the following screen

hello m8s i followed the instruction it took about 15 minutes it said done but when i turn the power back on i was not greeted with the technomate boot screen i got undergroun team instead the image i used is- TM500-UR-13-08-2009,its from the link above.
in the guide it says use original image so if this is not the one where can i download tm original image, cheers
