setting the smartcard reader

I am a beginner and I would like to know how can I set the smartcard reader to work with my smartcard. i have insert one Irdeto and my smartcard works fine with the irdeto but when i extract it and insert it in the smartcard reader it does not work. please help

It works, then you take it out and put it back and it doesn´t work?
Could you be clearer and then we might be able to help.
