at the moment i have a dm7000s and have it connected to my computer with dcc no problems , i recently got a 7020 (used ) for my brother in law for a good price as the guy never really used it .when i connects the 7020 i put all the settings in dcc , at first it connects then comes up with socket error

i can't really understand why this is happening and any advice would be great, the db has a gemini image in the flash that it came with and i fitted a 40 g hd in it, i was thinking about re flashing it although i did really want to keep the image that was on it and load another one on the hard drive , i cant really go to the guy i bought it from as his knowledge stopped at there is a power switch on the back lol.

thanx in advance

Hi Ted go to expert septup then communications setup and tick the DHCP box and save then reboot that should give you the true ip of the dreambox, if its saying socket error are you using the right network cable, it could just be a cable problem worth trying another network cable mate.

Have you tried rebooting your router, netmask should be 255 255 255 0 nameserver and gateway should be the same 192.168.0.1, if they dont appear to look like this after a reboot of the router enter them manually save then try dcc again.

Hope this helps you out Ted

Can you ping the 7020 from your PC?

Can you either telnet (from a cmd prompt) or FTP to the 7020 (i.e. not with DCC)?

hi mhuk

to be honest me and computers ain't the best

could you possibly explain what what to do and i will have a go and let you know whats what, all i have done is put the place of the dm7000, this 7020 i bought at a good price (£200) and the guy said he had only used it about 3 times and i can believe it, to be honest he was ill advised and because of his location never really worked

I don't use DCC so let's try from first principles.

Is your 7020 connected to a router? Is there also a PC connected to the router?

And you've copied the communication settings from the 7000 to the 7020?

And this is wrong:
gateway 127.0.0.1

The gateway is the IP address of your router e.g. 10.0.0.2 (if that is your router IP address).

Nameserver: I set this to the IP address of my ISP DNS server (if that doesn't make sense, leave it for now).

thanx stillabrummie mhuk and HaCKaMaC

i basically copied the info off my dm7000s in my communications settings over to the dm7020, i disconnected one receiver and connected the other and then i had these problems.

well yesterday i was out for the day taking the daughter to a taekwondo comp to compete and there 1000's of people there and i bump into a guy i know from another forum that i have not seen for a couple of years :D , i was explaining my problem and was saying that the image i had loaded on it took quite a while to boot up and he agree it was very strange and as i don't know any of the history of what software had been loaded i think the best thing would be to re flash it and start from scratch, so that is my next step and i will let you know if it sorts it

thanx

ok re flashed the dm70020

i have used the latest nabliosat one for the dm7020 and put it on the flash.

i have gone into comunications set up and edited the following

ip ~ 192.168.0.1
dhcp not ticked
netmask 255.255.255.0
type
lan
nameserver
192.168.0.1
gateway
192.168.0.1

enable network ticked

port 80

my ip of my router is 192.168.0.4

in the protocol in dcc it comes up with ~

telnet connected

Hi Ted i had this problem with nabilosat.V06 image on my 7000 the telenet box kept on going red after i changed my password, i just kept pressing the reconnect button and eventually it stayed green, maybe a bug in the image.

i dont belive it

the bloody thing wont connect now:mad:

and then my 7000 would not connect at first so all i can think of is there has to be some sort of conflict.

well now i have managed to load a image on the flash and seen it work so think the best thing if for my brother in law to set it up at hid house and i will talk him through it .

could it be down to the dcc version i haave got ??

You can't connect to the Dreambox?

You've checked the IP address of the Dreambox and the software you're trying to connect to it?

On your pc click

Start > run > cmd

this will bring up a command prompt. Now type

ping 192.168.0.n

where n is your IP address

remember gateway = router IP address

In your post above you've said the IP address of the Dreambox, namesever and gateway are all 192.168.0.1

"Normally" the router would be 192.168.0.1 and the other computers on the network would be 192.168.0.10, 192.168.0.11 etc. (for example) and add this IP range to the trusted zone in the router and/ or firewall.

the simplest way to check if your box is connected to the router is to open any browser (ie, firefox, opera,...) & type the ip of your box in the address bar.

you should see the enigma web interface if you're connected right.

other option is trying to ftp your box using any ftp client
