Please, Need help with sky HD channels freezing

Im desperate for anyones help on this because I have wasted hours trying different settings and images:mad:. I have the Nabilo b/h G2 image on my DM800 clone.

Sky Hd (28.2e) Channels on a certain TP (12324.00 V) that Discovery hd and scifi hd are on freeze/pexelate every three seconds or so. I have a sky card inserted and all other channels are working fine.

Its not a card issue, its a tuner issue. Other HD channels like the History HD uk work fine.

I tested this on my sky dish that works perfectly with the sky hd box and I tested on another dish. There is no ber but a fluctuating signal as the breakup happens, I tried a rescan and downloaded new settings but this didnt work. I then reflashed to Edg nemesis rc1 (ss72) but I had the exact same problem so its not an image problem.

has anyone got any suggestions. Please help.

Cheers for the fast reply, Yeh I am but it also happens with the blue card that is being sent from my dreambox upstairs without newcs. Also why is it only that one tp?

1 TP yeah strange!

Have you tried scanning the 1 TP yourself and not using a channel list? What signal reading do you have on that TP?

Yeh its really strange. I did scan the tp myself but its no better. The snr is low on all channels but I think thats just a bug, Im getting over 80% in the Sly box.

On this tp the snr is 60 but it suddenly drops to 45-50 and then goes up again. This is when the pixelation happens. The agc is 99 and ber is 0. Could i have a faulty tuner?

This is on Edg rc1 built for ss72

Could it be an issue with lnb compatibility (its a wnc with a short cable run). The Smart titanium lnb on my other dish (very long cable) is getting an even worse snr/pixelation but the same problem

Hmmm this is a signal issue then.

The 800s do read low but that low it is possible 2 things incorrect dish alignment or wireless radiation interference causing the sudden drop.

Do you have any cordless phones os anything wireless close to the 800 these can cause interferance on cheap coax fluctuating singnal levels.

80% snr on a sly box is low a a zone 1 dish in Yorkshire i achieve over 90%

I turned my cordless phone off but it makes no difference.

The thing is if I get a perfect picture on my old 2006 launch thompson sky hd box with the same dish and the same tp with the same cable should I not get it on the DM800, plus the sly box is just next to the dm. The cable is sky installer cable so I dont know much about it. It seems to be of good quality.

I have had this same problem from day 1 on my clone. I was told it was a problem with the early tuners in the clones, but since then I have had one of the later ones (aug 09) and still the same. It only seems to be with Disc HD and signal strength is fine.

Oh ok that explains it. Hopefully when the DM500hd original comes out I will buy that. I dont usually buy clones but this was a bargain, I will try an inline signal booster but it probably wont work.

Yeah i doubt an amp will solve the problem, but always worth trying. Personally i'd feel a bit pissed off if i had bought an original dm800 at the retail price, had 2 clones now for a year now and aside from the odd hiccup they have been fantastic.

Yeh its true, Dream do like to rip people off and they dont allow competition to use the same cams. If the chinese can sell clones for half the price and still make a profit I think Dream multimedias mark up is too high.

The problem is I was going to use the box mainly for my sky hd card. Now I cant watch some channels it is slightly pointless, anyway thanks for your input.

Dont think the Chinese clone manufactures are innocent though mate!

I don't think for one min with all that technology they could not clone the security simm perfectly!

I reckon they can but then they can not charge you £15 a pop for a new one when Dream change a bootloader ;) If they did

You know what I never thought of that, your 100% correct about the sims. The Chinese clone manufacturers are definitely not innocent. I can only imagine what they pay their workers but I doubt its good.

Also I wish I could buy them for 15 quid a pop but my supplier told me its 60, lol i was like yeah right

Cheers

Just wanted an opinion here. After testing the DM800 clone with many different settings I have come to the conclusion that D00K69 is right and there is something strange faulty with the tuner causing an incompatibility with the certain tp.

I want to know if this problem is worth pursuing with the seller or will I get nowhere. I really cant be bothered to send anything back to china but what do you think I should do?

The tuners are a push fit mate and are replaceable in the same way a PCI card can be in a computer. Maybe your supplier will just be reasonable and send you just a tuner. Worth asking.

Cheers mate, yeah I already had a route around the inside of the box yesterday to see what kind of tuner it had, it came out really easily so I was thinking the same. Anyway ill try my luck its worth a shot like you said.

The clone manufacturers have known about the disc HD prob for over a year now, no idea why its not been resolved.

So how did you get this info mate, did your supplier tell you? I didnt think all clones were the same?

Anyway, I got a reply from my supplier telling me to send the whole unit to china and then pay for it to be sent back after its repaired. I dont think that its worth the trouble.

I was trying to search for uk suppliers of legit dvb-s2 tuner modules but couldnt find one, all I found was a DVB C and T. If anyone knows of a supplier could you please let me know, thanks.

when I got the first 800 i noticed the problem and spoke to the supplier about it and he confirmed the problem after some investigative work with the supplier and said a fix would probably be applied in newer revisions. Having another a year on and checking the tuner version is same make but a newer revision, the problem still exists.

on a side note i believe 2 different brand of tuners are used in the clones, ALPS 401A which were in both of mine and i think i saw in an advert for clones saying NRX tuner or something. Might be worth making a new thread asking users what tuner they have.
