Hi
I would like to move from cccam to oscam but I need serious help.
I have a 15 year old Vu+ Uno with Black hole image 3.0.7

I mainly watch live tv.

I have have a motorised dish that can go more or less from 30E to 35W (it goes further but tress/houses in the way).

I am happy to change image if necessary.

Do I need a different image? If so which one and where do I find it?
What OSCAM software do I need, where do I find it and where/how do I install it on my box (I know how to use filezilla)?

Please bear with me as I am not very good with modern technology.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Change image - Open PLI or Open ATV etc...
On Open PLI there is oscam to download in plugins, there is similar procedure on ATV also (firstly addon neded).
Convert CCcam to oscam and that's all.

Hello everyone.

I have factory reset my Vu box to get rid of stuff.

I have installed OpenPLI (8xstar release) and configured sats and I have got FTA live TV up and running.
I also have downloaded Openpli 9.0 but I haven't installed it.

I am however struggling with WLAN.
I have entered what I think are the correct IP, gateway, etc (I copied them from old set up before doing factory reset).

When I look at WLAN status, I get this:
Link quality 70/70
signal strength -36dBm
Bitrate 72.2 Mb/s

But when I do a network test, it says:

LAN Adapter ok
Wireless network ok (connected)
DHCP disabled
IP address Unconfirmed
Nameserver Unconfirmed

Any ideas?

thank you

Try disabling the lan connection.

I agree with @freon.

Enable DHCP then reboot your router then the VU+.

Youll get an IP under test.

Then if you wish to create a static IP for the box go into network settings deselect DHCP and change just the last 3 digits of the IP save and reboot.

Do another network test.

OK.

So, I've disabled LAN as @kegnkiwi suggested and enabled DHCP as @freon and @Ferret suggested.

After enabling DHCP and Saving changes, I switched off the box at the back. I then switched off the router, waited 3 / 4 minutes and switched the router back on and when router was back on, switched on the Vu+

When I go to ADAPTER SETTINGS
Usi interface YES
Use DHCP YES
Hidden network YES
Network name (MY VIRGIN MEDIA INTERNET)
Encryption key (MY VIRGIN MEDIA KEY)

and below that:

Current settings
IP Address, Netmask, Gateway, Primary DNS, Secondary DNS all say N/A

When I do a network test, it says:
WLAN connection OK
Wireless network CONNECTED
DHCP ENABLED
IP Address UNCONFIRMED
Nameserver UNCONFIRMED

I have done this twice and both times got the same result.

@Ferret You don't remember but you helped me set up my first box (Technomate) on the old alsat forum back in 2006!

It has to be an issue with your router.

Can you not try with a cable from router to box and not Wifi?

2006 :ROFLMAO: I'd forgotten all about that god awful forum !

ok.
I don't know really 100% how but I logged into my router, saw the Vu+ was connected, checked the IP address and now when I do network test, all 5 (WLAN connection, wireless network, DHCP, IP address and Nameserver) come up with a green tick to show it's ok.

I can now also connect with filezilla.

Thanks everyone.

When I go to plugins, under Japhar Addons Manager, I can see 12 different OpenPli Oscam (11392 11517 8557 Andre AndreMarco Marco Marco Andre etc.). Is there any particular one that I should choose?

What are you wanting to open with Oscam ?

I have been using cccam to open stuff like tv vlaanderen, swiss tv channels, etc. but I read somewhere that I could open Sky DE with Oscam.

Howewer, I've lost the connection again.

Now, when I go to ADAPTER SETTINGS, "Use interface" is switched off and no matter how many times I switch it on and SAVE the settings, it switched itself back to OFF.

Hi @freon
Do you mean put Black hole back on?
I also have downloaded OpenPLI 9.0 but I haven't put it on the Vu+.
And another thing, when I switch off the Vu at the back and switch it back on, for the first 3 or 4 seconds, the Black Hole logo comes on and then is replaced by OpenPLI. I thought installing openPLI would replace Black Hole but it looks like it hasn't replaced it fully.

Open PLI or Open ATV - but original image.
"I have installed OpenPLI (8xstar release)" That is not an original.

Hi
Is OpenPLI 9.0 an original?
If not where do I find an original (I downloaded 8xstar from this forum).

I have installed OpenPli 9.0

The same still happens. In adapter settings, Use interface won't stay ON, no matter how many times I save.

Openpli 9.0 is new kernel
Try with 8.3 from openpli org
Or try ATV, any other image.
