Why would people become donating members?

Donor or not ,you are not exempt from the rules mate....you have a 7-day ban on Shoutbox (Ban ends 12/08/2023)

I never request feeds because I'm not interested in them and I don't think I've asked about the set up of Sat equipment either.

I have no doubt you have, they may just have been access level change for shoutbox and you either haven't been here long enough or made insufficient amounts of posts to get access? Only @Ferret @Rocknroll and other admin would know for sure?

I'm excluded from chat as well. I'm long time member and i havent done anything wrong. It's okay if you wanna set rules for chat and exclude certain members, but at least have the decency to inform members.

The only group restricted from shout box is newly registered members or members with less then 50 posts

We were getting spam posted in the shout from members with no posts.

Because if they were banned for spamming they would just make another account and do it again. With a 50 post minimum it would generally mean you were an active member of the community and less likely to spam the board.

Yes now you know .
Have to say its a very wise decision and promotes users to become much more active without the constant spamming .
Shoutbox should never be taken for granted anyhow which now should mean it wont ever be .

Exactly right mate.

Another reason is spending the time moderating it. Moderating the forum is the best use of our time not a shoutbox.
