K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs and related tools. Codec is short for Compressor-Decompressor. Codecs are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video. K-Lite Codec Pack 4.5.3

A new version of the codec pack has been released with several updated components. New in this version is an option to choose to use an experimental MT (multi-threading) build of ffdshow. Advantage of that build compared to regular ffdshow builds is that it has better decoding performance for H.264 on CPUs with multiple cores.
This version of the codec pack is compatible with Windows 7. Tests show that there are only some issues with loading subtitles in some players. Read the FAQ for solutions for those subtitle issues.
