Is it possible to put my cam in a sky hd box

I've tried a search but found nothing on this so thought i'd ask.

I have a Sky HD box that is crapping out when trying to read my card. I checked the card in my dreambox and it runs fine so i'm guessing the cam in the HD box is dying. I've tried cleaning it etc but no joy.

Could i plug my dragon cam into the sky box to read my card. i know theres no port on the front for it but thought there might be an internal one?

Not trying to do anything fancy, just want to watch the channels that my card clears without buying a new sky hd box.

I have a dm800 so its not a big issue, i just prefer the sky epg and plus features.

It will tell me that no card is inserted every now and again and some times decrypting will break then come back on etc

I assume you have a *REAL* Sky card, as I've never heard of a cloned version.

If so, and if you are totally legit with your Sky Subscription (i.e. in the UK, etc). Then I would suggest ringing Sky and getting them to have a look at your HD box (either fixing or replacing it).

If they use the "It's out of warranty, and we'll have to charge you £LOTS to get it fixed" approach, I would suggest that you respond with "That's fine, please put me through to customer services then, as I want to close my account!"

I have found that once through to the terminations department, the often offer to fix/replace the box for free in order to avoid losing you as a customer.

One option you could try (with caution), is sticking a piece of blank paper over the NONE CONTACTS side your card, putting a LITTLE glass cleaner onto it, and WITH THE BOX UNPLUGGED insert & remove the card a few times to clean the contacts.

It's also worth having a look at how clean the contacts are on the card itself ~ It maybe that the cards contacts are dirty, and your DM/Dragon is pushing down on them harder.

Just a thought
