Help with Streaming over the net away from home

Hi All,

Am using vu dou vix 2.0 image. I am able to stream within my network at home but if am away from home(friends place) I can not stream. I can succeffuly connect and log on to my dreambox webcontrol.If i tried to stream using vlc i get an error window from vlc with message bellow.

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://muphy.dyndns-home.com:8001/1:0:1:2585:7FB:2:11A0000:0:0:0:'. Check the log for details.

Anybody with an idea why am having this problem?

Hi

You have to portforward port 8001, for streaming outsite your homenetwork. But you will also need a fast upload connection. I have by my self a 30/8 mbit, I can watch anything, but not HD channels, as they need more bandwidth.

Thanks, please can you explaine How do i portforward port 8001? my homenetwork download is 6mbps and upload is 0.47mbps.
The uploaod outside my network is 0.71mbps. do you think this is ok?

no i dont think that i possible. you will need at least 4-5 mbit upload. but try to google "portforward"

No chance with that upload speed mate but you could try this

No tried that myself but it works because it reduces the video size so less bandwidth is used to stream the picture.

Thanks, I know how to portforward as i have done that at home. I had already porforward from my router to to the port 1222 in the box.
I cant find port 8001 in the box anywhere; Do i porforward outside my network?
Do i have to set up port 8001 on the box and port forward it from the router?

Am confused!
