Hi there.
Got a Dreambox 500S with Peter Pan on it. Now, i really would like to test other images on it, but how can i go from one image to another without destroying the settings that the dreambox uses to connect to my other key server?

Sorry if this is a Newbie question.

Hi mate

If you load a image over the top of you current one you will loose all your setting.

Al you need to do though is backup your Emu config and your channel setting if they are important to you. Then after your re-flash you can put the config and settings back.

What EMU/Cam do you use, lets us know and we can advice how to save the config.

I use the MGCamD1.16/NewCS1.19, is that what you were looking for? Ohh, and Peter Pan software.

Yes mate

So you need to backup the

mg-cfg in \var\keys
newcs.xml in \var\tuxbox\config
newcamd.list \var\keys

Right, already done. So now i just find another image and upload it, adjust the normal parameters, like satellite LNB settings and network, the upload the 3 files again. Is that really it?
I was thinking about the PLI Jade image, or maybe you have a better idear? I am specially thinking about some image where streaming from the PC Harddrive to Dreambox is easy to use.

You need to install the Emu again also mate before you upload the backup con figs.

So you need to load MGCamD1.16/NewCS1.19, or a later version then upload the configs.

I have tryied to flash and restore a backup i have, without any luck, my system is read-only. Any idears?
