EU raises NetCity doubts
Viviane Reding, EU Commissioner for Info Society and Media, has expressed concerns about the NetCity project while on a visit to the Romanian capital, Bucharest. Quoted in the local press, she said that the EC has “certain doubts” about the project following an initial investigation but will make a final judgement after a more detailed study. Should the project, which is designed to provide Bucharest with a fibre-optic network, breach EU competition rules, Romania, rather than the city authorities, would find itself in the dock.
