Hello,

I have been reading the forum and it appears there is a lot of Interest in the Edison brand receiver.

Therefore, I would like to ask a question. Can the Edison OS Mini be used in the United States? The reason I'm asking this question is because the Edison OS Mip + 4K appears to support not only satellite but terrestrial television and cable, which I believe only supports European Standard. This would make these features of the box irrelevant to a satellite enthusiast in the United States. Is this the case? Do I understand this correctly?

If this is the case it would appear the EDISION OS Mini 4K DVB S2X would work in the USA. True?

Finally, Where do you source these receivers?

Thanks,

Wilbur

So far, this is the only place in North America, where you may or not, buy edision brand:
Edision
As for the capabilities of the 2 models you are inquire about, I recommend this place:
inquire
I do own an osmio 4k+, but you need to add another device for terrestrial.

based on the image you choose ( you can install 4 diff images on osmio4k+), you can download & install from the plugin menu. some images come with preloaded soft & programs.

How do I learn about these images and what they do and how can I learn more about them in this forum? I don't even know the name to these things.

Hey Wil. Legit will be the place to stick with . This is a European site. I think we're handling it quite well there across the pond.
I've tried just about every Enigma 2 image out there.
It narrows down to:
TNAP
OpenATV
OpenViX
Openpli

TNAP has been tailored to work with and receive USA satellites the best.
OpenViX is my latest favorite and works very well.
OpenATV was my favorite for 5 years.

As long as TNAP is an openpli based image, I choose openbh instead of openpli, and yes vix is getting better.

I would hit the like button but after trying obh. It is disgustingly lacking in refinement and features.
At the other end of the outrageous is PurE2 that tries to mimic Kodi. And its effed-up rcu key mapping.
It would be OpenATV still but since I was shown the services in signal finder in ViX (there in TNAP also).
Very very handy to have before scanning an entire tp or group of that have encryptions.
Oh, what the hell. I'll hit like!!!

I did suggest EB to be incorporated into TNAP image after was lunched by vix....
it's a nice & helpful feature.

Willy. There are EU sites such as Sat Univ. that have been extremely helpful. And I cherish them.
Nope. Not just for Europeans. Understand that the region cannot receive a lot of the satellites that are over the horizon.
Much as we cannot receive their satellites. Even if a motorized antenna could "see" that low in the horizon, the footprint of transponders may not be wide enough to cover the East or West coast. Much as we can see South American sats. But those transponders are beamed, for example, to Brazil.

So although in situations where you post on one of these sites and a reply remains stagnant. Sure, why not ask the same questions elsewhere.
If you're fishing of opinions. Go for it. Listen. Some differences up front.
We commonly see dishes 8-10' in diameter. Limitations in the EU are usually 2 meters (6 feet).
The US fta hobby. Which it is a hobby. Uses different reception equipment. Things like unicable, full band capture lnbf's, and receivers that can handle the hardware hooked to the receiver is different.
We don't use subscription cards. At all. And simply mentioning your desire to use oscam to receive more channels will get you chastized or kicked from US sites.
So take a hint. Don't do it.
I fortified your receiver search and questions in a post here. Because it seems as if the most important aspect of a satellite receiver in the USA is blindscan capability.
And the ability to demodulate certain audio streams. And to be able to 'peek around' satellites for wild feeds. Ball games, events, races, etc. that may pop up for a few hours.
For Europeans? Not particularly so. But remember. Our reception situations do differ a bit over here.

Why is the mention of oscam a bad thing? As I understand it its the card used in Europe to watch paid for programming and in use You guys don't have this tech.
