I have just installed and configured dreamstroid to stream from my Vu+ to HTC desire HD. I followed all the instructions on the help. I can connect to my box via 3g from phone and get channel listing and epg but when I try to stream it just says loading and thats it, nothing comes up. Help needed plse.

Dreamstreamoid not Streaming

My upload speed is 2.5mb. I understand the upload speed is no problem because VLC transcodes it. I can use another app called android dreamer quite well without probs with vlc. Could it be an issue with enabling password protection or access on vlc? I didn't do that because I felt it is not necessary since it only has to do with security.
I just connected and did that, nothing shows on messages but some log details like http server, stream output, access http etc showed up on the the second tab: Modules Tree. And I can see current epg in front of channels on channel list on my phone. I think its connecting to vlc but for some reason its just not streaming to phone becasue when I exit dreamstreamoid the logs on Modules Tree disappear. May be there is a part of the config. that I have not done. Can you just give me the detailed configuration of your vlc on pc and phone if you have got it working thanks.

If you dont't see anything in the messages window on level2 in VLC, you are not connected.
Perhaps, your router isn't configured correctly.
The EPG is called directly from the VU+.

Yes I have tested it on my local lan and it works great. I am using the free version of Dreamstrreamoid anyway. I hope its not restricted to streaming on lan only? I aim to buy the pro as soon as this works. How dO I activate password on vlc? I thought this was optional.

It is optional!
But if VLC is accessible from the internet, everybody can see your files on your PC, if you don't protect it.
You should create .access files - for more infos, look at the help pages.
If you want, you can send me screenshots of the port forwarding configs of your router and the configs of your DreamStreamoid.

I use O2 in germany. And I can only use port 554 for streaming!
Can you setup your router to forward the external port 554 to the internal port 1234?

How do I do this? change the portforward from 1234 to 554 or set up a new portforward? I don't think my mobile provider blocks streaming because I can stream over 3g with androiddreamer. I also tried it outside using a friend's wifi through my mobile it didn't work but it worked with androiddreamer. I prefer Dreamstreamoid hence I am putting all this effort. As soon as I get it to work, I will just by the pro.
I notice that on the diagram on the left handside of the help page there are two ports: 8001 and 80 showing under receiver url. There is only one port:80 for http interface on my receiver web interface. the other is for https which I believe is not useful in this config. Whats the 8001 showing under receiver url with an arrow with 'get tv stream' pointing to it from vlc url for and where do I put that?
