Dream MulitMedia wants to release their new DM8000 at the end of the year. We found out some of the specifications and also have some of the pictures.
Specifications
Dual tuner (sperate optional card)
DVI, HDMI & h.264
Hardware MPEG2, MPEG4 & WM9 (HDTV compliant)
300Mhz CPU
128MB RAM
32MB Flash
MiniPCI slot
Super cool display (RGB color adjustable)
DVD player (slimline) optional
2 x CI, with eject button
2 x smartcard reader
1x simmcard reader (internal)
Multiple layer 3D menu (16 milion colors)
The price will be around the DM7020-s, which would be around the $675.00.
However we would like to see some other featurers to make it a real Digital Network Media Player like:
SATA drive support
1000Mbps LAN
Fire wire to connect additional drives or Camcorders
Double layer DVD burner
Embeddedd Web Browser
Instant Messaging compatible (Yahoo, AOL, MSN)
Rhapsody and EMusic music services, Shoutcast and WMA Internet radio
JPEG, GIF, PNG, JPEG digital photos
Maybe we can get a real good Digital Network Media Player, which you can connect to you home-built PVR server or a next DM8000. So that you can playback and record DVD-quality video in MPEG-1/2/4, Motion-JPEG, and AVI to the server or DM8000.
Play CD-quality audio and stream it from yuor personal library of PC-stored MP3, WMA, and WAV audio files or DM800 library. Hopefully you can connect your IPod or any other MP3 player directly into the unit and choose with the remote which song you want to play (Think Windows Media Center).
Play Internet radio and commercial music services on the stereo
Display digital photos stored on home computers on the TV
Browse the Web on the TV
Display live, personalized news and information on the TV
Instant Message with friends and family on the TV.
Lets hope they go ALL the way...the still have time to implement all these nice features and have it ready for the X-mas season.
