you can flash your 800 over lan by inserting the power lead and holding the front power button in, when you see stop and an ip address, take your finger of the front power button, then with your web browser insert that ip address and you will see the firmware page, click on firmware upgrade, browse your pc for the saved image then click on flash, when it gets to 100% press the front power button and it should reboot.

you can install pet settings which are channel lists with dreambox edit, but you still need to store each sat position manually if your not using usals.

You don't need to flash a image via null cable in fact if you did it takes around a hour to do so.

It is much better to flash with you browser guide here

http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=139907

Saying that it is a good idea to have a null cable handy to get you out of trouble for instance if you have a clone and you load a image with the wrong boot-loader sometimes you'll need to flash via null cable.

As for channel list you can either download them off the images addons server or transfer them over you network via programs like Dreamboxedit or Dreamset.

Has anybody tried to flash a DM800 with serial and null BUT also with network cable connected and Use Network Enabled on Dreamup? A friend tried it on three different occassions so far and it took less than 5 minutes each time.
Image installation was complete and perfect on all occassions too. Dreamup version used was 1.3.3.1

Ive not mate no but if you can flash via browser then why flash like that with DreamUP? It is another option though.

Does this method work when say you have messed up a clone with a bad image and you can not get it into DCHP flashing mode? Can not see how you'd get the IP.

Dreamup for me is a get out of jail card for when things go wrong.

Yes I have used Dreamup with Null cable, and wireless Net cable. It did only take about 5 minutes, but if the Image is okay then using the net is easier.

When my friend tried this method, it was only to overwrite an existing working Flash Image, using the same IP as the existing Flash Image. He has luckily not yet messed up his Dreambox, so I have no idea how long it will take to re-flash a messed up Dreambox with the Use Network also Enabled. Maybe in such case, only the serial function will work and take much longer.

i just tried getting my ip address off my dm800 and got **stop** dhcp instead of ip address, reading the flashing guide and it says if i dont have a dhcp server then i have to setup the ip in the bootloaders serial setup by using the serial terminal

so im guessing i need to setup a dhcp server, can you give us a hand on this bit m8

cheers :thum:

Hi mate

Your 800 is it connect to a router and not a switch?

On your 800 make sure you have it set to DHCP. Menu-setup-system-network-adapter.

Power down router and 800 at the plug switch on the router and leave it a min or so. Then press and hold down the standby button while applying power.

If still not look we can look at editing the IP in the bootloader/bios.

just tried that m8 didnt work just stuck on dhcp, however when i went to change it the dhcp mode was set to no and under it stated an ip address which was 192.168.1.101 but that still didn't work.

do i need to have the internet to connect to the dreambox interface and do i cannect to the dreambox interface in the waiting mode or when the dreambox has fully booted.

connect your dreambox to your router, select dhcp reboot the router, then pull the power on the dreambox, reinsert the power and hold the front power button at stop your should see the ip, thats the ip you put in your web browser.

Have you disable DHCP on you router?

That is one thing that would stop the 800 getting a IP

Try to fix the Ip from the BIOS set up of your reciver.

here you have a screen shot of the bios network.

If you can enter to the bios you can fix the IP for your flash
