Tried the dish on my garden on a tripod. With a single LNB pointed on hotbird I get more signal than when with the rail. On my favorite channel I get 78 and before was 73. On the other favorite channel I got 90-91 and before was 88. On the other sats I get almost the same as when they are on the rail.
Hi.
I think the Tripod is a great way to do it.
1. You wrote that on Hotbird 13E you get more signal than when on the Rail.
2. On the other SAT you got the same as when they are on the Rail.
For 1. I am not sure if that is because of the larger dish or because of the Single LNB is adjusted better than when on the Rail.
For 2. That don't make sense. On a larger dish you get the same as when on the Rail on a smaller dish. Then they are not
adjusted correct.
Even with the 5% improvement with the new LNB do I expect that you will end up with the Triax 88 cm?
It will be possiable to adjust the Rail angle / Dish Elevation so that you will have the same signal level for 2 of the LNB's.
Suggest it to be 13E and 23.5E
You can adjust each LNB in 6 ways:
Sideways, Back - Forward in the holder and Up - Down by Rail Angle / Dish Elevation.
When you have found the right position can you twist the LNB in 3 directions:
SKEW, left - right rotation ( is normally fixed by the holder ) and up - down rotation ( is also normally fixed by the holder,
but if you use a heavy LNB the weight may be change the way it sit in the holder )
If you change one thing, you may be need to make some fine adjustment on the others.
If all above parameters place the LNB in a Equal position as when LNB is in a Single holder will you have the same signal out.
If you can't get the same or nearly the same signal out, can you try to make the previus suggested measurement:
To find out If there is any difference with 13E between 78 and 88 you can try:
1. When single LNB?
2. When Rail, but only 13E in the middle?
3. When Rail and 13E half way out?
Suggest you write down values for both 2 weak and 2 strong transponders.
And please remember that the LNBs position on the rail is different for the 78 cm and 88 cm dish.
The results will give us the posibilities to see where the differences is.
Is it when you move it from the single holder and over to the rail?
Or is it when you move it from the middle of the Rail and out to one side?
And when I remember it, Here is a quote from the Triax MultiBlock Paper manual:
' For additional support of the dish arm, a hole is drilled through back structures and arm
in which the enclosed screw is mounted. See fig 5.'
Please have a look in you own manual to se it.
