As the client protocol newcamd.

As far as I know you can share the card, not the reader. The name in that section, it can be whatever you want

Omnikey reader not working with newcs

I am trying to use my omnikey reader with mgcamd1.33/newcs 1.66 but can not get it ot work. In newcs managment console the reader shows up but does not try to read the card and only has a red x aginst it. I have checked the reader and card with my PC and it is working fine. It shows when a card is inserted and reads data of the card. I an not sure if newcs is looking in the right place or it is the box that is the problem.

You need first install PCSC drivers to your linux PC.
Code:
Fedora Core way:
su -
yum install opensc pcsc-lite ccid
chkconfig pcscd on
service pcscd start

Debian way:
apt-get install opensc pcscd libccid

Ubuntu way:
sudo apt-get install opensc pcscd libccid

Next command:
nano /etc/opensc/opensc.conf
And change thise lines by removing # from front and reader_drivers lines u delete one comand too:
reader_drivers = pcsc, ctapi;
try_emulation_first = yes;
lock_login = false;
If that is done hit from keyboard ctrl+o and enter, then ctrl+x to exit

Next give command:
opensc-tool --list-readers
And you should see your reader there present like so, but with your reader info. Examlpe:
Code:

Readers known about:
Nr.    Driver     Name
0      pcsc      Omnikey 1020
Then you need version newcs.i686.pcsc for x86 cpu example. If all those criterion are complited, then it will work as well.

Good testing

Thanks for that but I am not trying to run this on a PC.

After a bit of editing newcs.xml I now can see that newcs is running and cand see my card in either reader. But under keys it is all zero's which I think means it can see the card but is not reading it. Also under users Hostname is offline and client is also offline. Entitlments is showing 0
