sorted my post but i have no receivers that calculates .83 MHz i'm afraid ...which receiver does that .....just curious ??
Sorry I missed your reply barney. The only receivers I'm aware of which report fractional MHz in their user-interfaces are PC based with DVB card. But of course the temperature drift of local oscillators in both LNB and the conversion stages of your DVB card renders those fractional MHz meaningless... unless you calibrate them *frequently* against a known transponder. For SX88 and SF8008 set top boxes, I have written my own software to extract sub-1MHz blind-lock frequency data.

For 7E, the European Space Agency has often published precise transponder details prior to space mission live coverage, which are a solid starting point. Once you have one frequency nailed down as a calibration reference, you can measure the others off it. Only taken me 2 years thus far lol, but I have a fair idea of the feed bands in use on 7E. Interest in such has been re-awakened after my brief absence from the sat-scene, as there now appear to be new feed bands on 7E.

(as an ancient physics graduate this stuff gives me the opportunity to roll out my experimental physicist's approach to measurement & accuracy).
