Hi Guys,
Just wondering whether anyone would help me. I have a motorised dish and installed the latest Catseye setting on my VU+ along with my own bouquet. I am able to get a few satellite channels but some have gone missing. I mean the channels on that satellites are greyed and therefore the only way to move to that satellite is by pressing "+" channel button, then Green "Satellite" button and then going to the services of that satellite for example "Thor / Intelsat (0.8W) - Services". I was able to get all the satellites previously but I feel now that some have disappeared over time "Greyed channel list".

Could anyone please help me how to get them back. I have BH Image (10/02/11) version installed on my VU+.

Thanks in advance

Usually greyed channels mean that the tuner cant find them or tuner is being used to record another channel

Try giving a different channel list and see

Hi mate

What that mean is the channel list does not match up with the sat listing the image was made with. For example your location of 0.8w in your settings could of been 0.9 or even 1 west on the image.

There are a couple of ways to correct this how i do it is edit the satellite.xml to match the images location.

To do this go to satfinder plugin scroll down to satp postion and use the <> buttons on the remote and go to the position it has listed for 1 west

Lest say it listed at 1 west now navigate to the satellite.xml you have at etc/tuxbox and look for the positon it has for 1 west lets say it listed as

<sat name="Thor 5/6/Intelsat 10-02 (0.8W)" flags="0" position="-8">

change it to match your image like this

<sat name="Thor 5/6/Intelsat 10-02 (1.0W)" flags="0" position="-10">

Save and reboot

Hope this makes scence

Hi,
It's happened to me a few times :eek: It's when there's a difference between the satellites.xml, "satellite position" and whats called for in the channel list.

Classic for me is the 16e which sometimes can be position 158 or 160 in the satellites.xml file

example
<sat name="Eurobird 16/Eutelsat Sesat 1/Eutelsat W2M/Hylas 1" flags="0" position="158">

hope this helps

Hi Ferret and Cycloxit
Thank you for the very valuable information. I have checked the Satellite.xml file as both of you have stated it says:
<sat name="Thor/ Intelsat (0.8W)" flags="1" position="-8">
I have also checked the Satellites then to "Thor/ Intelsat )0.8W) - Services" and I can select channels there, I mean they are working fine if I go through that way. But they are greyed in my channel bouquet. The channel position I have set on the positioner is "26" whch is also saved in the VU+ if that makes any sense.

Thanks

A dumb question but how do I edit the satellite.xml file? I am not able to do it in Word, and with Internet Explorer (which is of course not an editor).

Hi,
I have downloaded the XML Notepad Editor so I think the editing part can be carried out but still don't see any problem with the position except for the "flag" part which in my case is 1. By the way I also not able to receive 16 and 0.8 both. All others are working fine.

I can however, go to these satellite when I select them from the "Satellite" and then "- services".

Thanks

Hi Ferret that problem is solved. But when I do ftp and right click and then edit it opens the file in the Internet Explorer where I cannot edit. But I think I can do it now in the XML notepad editor. But what is wrong with my flags and position. Should I change the flags to "0" and see. But all other working satellites have "1" flag including 16 which is not working.

Thanks

Yeah you can use notepad

You have this on the sat.xml

<sat name="Thor/ Intelsat (0.8W)" flags="1" position="-8">

Now follow this and tell me what it says

To do this go to satfinder plugin scroll down to satp postion and use the <> buttons on the remote and go to the position it has listed for 1 west

Hi Ferret thanks for the reply.

The Satfinder says: "Thor/ Intelsat (0.8W)". DOes it make any sense?

Yes but your current setup is fine and should work your problem is elsewhere with your tuner config or the channels your looking at have moved or the parameters have change.

If your selecting these channels form bouquets try select the same channels from the satellite option. Press the bouquets button then greem for satellite in there you'll fing three folders for each sat have a look in there and select the same channels. Do they work ?

You need to edit the bouquet settings

I had a similar problem with one of the previous Catseye settings in that the channels were listed as 16.0 E and 1.0W for ech satellite and as such in the bouquets lists it cannot find the channels. How I did it was to Export the relevant Bouquets to Excel and edit the relevant settings 160 became 158 and 16.0 became 15.8 etc. Then I imported the previously exported file back into the bouquet.

Then upload to box and job done

i've had this happen to me, particularly when changing between different dreambox images, I always do a backup as well as a manual backup particularly satellites.xml.

Yes by going that way I can goto the satellites (16 and 0.8) and also select and view the channels on that satellite. It's something to do with my bouquet I need to change. But don't know exactly how. I'll tr Excel and see how it works.

Top option set to EXPERT and then set ENABLE MULTIPLE BOUQUETS to YES save and reboot

It may already be this way im just thinking out loud

Hi ferret,
Thank you for the info. Actually I have solved the problem by deleting my own bouquets (both 16 & 0.8) and then making afresh from the list of channels available (on the left) by using DreamBoxEdit. By the way I have checked the setting and its precisely as you mentioned.

Thank you all for the replies.
