PS: Ich auch:D.
Sky since ´99 (DF1 - Premiere - Sky) - HD for three years now.

Astonishing for me that you still have Betacrypt smartcard (mine Nagra3), but Betacrypt should still be possible as long as they support Nagra3 (which may end 2014 - last time they only prolonged Kudelski license for 2013).
When in future they will only support *DS, we´ll probably all get new smartcards ...

Yes, real problem. You can get mgcam for EDG-Nemesis, you can get multicam manager for your firmware, but you can´t get them working together (with multicam manager only supporting CCcam, SCAM and OSCAM).
Perhaps you should get new Nagra or V13 smartcard and use different cam than mgcam?
Some day you´ll have to quit Betacrypt smartcard anyway.

Hi naveed68:).

Sorry to hear, you sold your dm8000:mecry:.
It´s still a fine box and still excellent hardware. What other box can handle four HD tuners and eight HDTV recordings at a time? (It´s overkill for many users, of course - nearly nobody records so much at a time.)

Well, let´s hope Goliath will even be better and come to market late.
If your Hummy works fine for you, you may be patient enough to wait for that day. If not you may like buying a dm7020hd or perhaps a receiver from other company (they aren´t all bad - sometimes even not the cheap boxes).
The most important for me is, that a receiver doesn´t control my behaviour. With no little children at home, e.g. I don´t want to get forced again and again to enter a PIN in order to disable youth protection for broadcasts. That´s really an annoyance.
There are many boxes that annoy users by bossing them around. Therefore I prefer Dreambox with Enigma2. (I had Philips, Humax, Technisat, Comag, Abcom and more - most with "unfree" firmware or free box, but with not so good hardware.)
So dreambox now my favourite. (VU+ not bad, too - near dreambox quality at least with HDTV picture - SDTV a bit worse, but acceptable.)

Whatever box you´ll buy - have fun:thum:

Yes, naveed:) - if you´re satisfied with hummy, that´s the only thing that counts. What´s the use of any box with tons of features and not be satisfied for one or the other reason?

So whatever Goliath may be when it will get released, it should be worth spending money on it only, if it offers what people want.
Many of the new features of OE 2.0 that dreamboxes nowadays offer - I can do without them (HBBTV, webbrowser), because other devices at my home do them better (tv set, pc). So I would like Goliath to improve media functions: 4K Resolution instead of only Full HD 1080i (at least with media player plugin)/ HDMI-CEC like with dm7020HD/ playback of copyrighted Blurays, DVDs and music CDs/ playback of mkv, avi, divx etc. mediafiles with all known audio (7.1 HD for Dolby Digital + DTS) / tuning up of Goliath with additional hardware modules without openeing the box (e.g. a bay for harddisks, slots for tuners.)

Well some features we all dream of, we´ll never get - even not with a dreambox: All Hdtv broadcasts of all kinds for free - without adverts. S.th. like this only happened in ancient Rome at Colosseum, when a Cesar wanted to cheer up his people:D. But they had a differerent kind of humour then:eek:.

Just noticed a new Merln3 OE 2.0 image is available (2012-09-02).
and (sorry for this late message - was busy updating macs/pcs the last days)
New CVS experimental firmware 2012-08-31 available!
So I know, what I´ll do with my Merlin this afternoon;).

Hi naveed68:)
Lol - no more power plugs and sockets in the house - perhaps with forbidden areas in the house, where power flows along through the air and some family member always yelling at you s.th. like "Don´t walk up and down the stairs all the time - you´re blocking electricity stream - satbox always shuts off!":D

Or caution labels on a couch: "Don´t sit on the middle seat, if your wearing a cardiac pacemaker!":D

-------

Seems as if first tests are being done with 4k broadcasts, already. Somebody posted pic on dreambox board.

http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/board/index.php?page=Thread&postID=116336&highlight=4k+Test#post116336

But for heaven´s sake - who will pay 8000 € for new 4k OLED tv?
My most expensive tv up to now was 4000 € and I already considered purchase of that one absolute madness:eek:.
*******

Can´t tell about latest CVS firmware, but my new Merlin3 2012-09-02 very stable - satisfied with it - no probs:).
Merlin is based on CVS 2012-08-31 - therefore CVS should be fine, too.

Some information, I read on manufacturer´s board
(by Dreambox user "Homey" - a well known plugin programmer - e.g. "permanent time shift plugin)":

Dreambox virus/bot discovered!

A dreambox 8000 of a friend of Homey´s had unexplainable problems.
Homey could connect to an Enigma1 box in Poland, running a process called "M5" that was listening on all ports / scanning IP adresses and trying to login with "root/dreambox" and when successful - copying itself to found open dreambox.

If you never used a dreambox password or used combination "root / dreambox" - better change this in order to protect your box:

Password can be changed in Telnet @ root.
Type

passwd
Enter
new password of your own choice Enter
new password of your own choice Enter

Note!
If you had to enter your dreambox password into any software (e.g. Dreambox Control Center / iDreamX) - don´t forget to change your password accordingly in this software, too, to get it working with your box again.

One more possibility to protect your box:
If you can do without opened ports in your router (but some configurations with CCcam need this for sharing purposes - in most cases ports 12000 and 12001), then do.
If you can live with e.g. SCAM instead of CCcam or CCcam/OSCAM combination, then better do.
SCAM doesn´t need ports to be opened in your router. It can only share within home-network, though and not over the internet.

----------------------

More news:
---
Reported problems with hdd recordings should have been solved by now with lastest firmware (there could occur some dropouts before).
Some recordings being made with older firmware may be faulty - flashing new firmware will not repair these, but give you better new recordings.
---

Maybe in some languages - broken subtitle lines may occur. Should get fixed with newer firmware. Developers got informed.
but ...
Good news for those missing "crossepg" funtion on OE2.0 - a change may come (some say "soon"). Developers are working on this. There may come a working xmltv epg import, solving the problem.

There´s a discussion in English on this topic on manufacturers board here:
(Remark: "Ghost" is official DMM developer and "Dr. Best" is non official, but well known programmer, too. Results seem to be possible.)

Some more info on last CVS Update 2012-10-05.
New:

Devicemanager
* now supports hdd larger than 2 GB
* recordings shouldn´t get spoiled any more, when there is more than one activity on hardrive

* harddrive tests get done with button GREEN now (not yellow any longer)

but note!
GREEN is only active, after you selected your hdd with OK button.
Dont be surprised, when a second harddrive entry with name of your harddrive appears. This is because for testing purposes from now on a swapfile gets used.

So your harddrive will e.g. be shown as mounted sda1
swapfile will e.g. be shown as sda2

mounting/unmounting/automount- menu of harddrives you now get access to, by pressing OK twice on your harddrive´s entry in devicemanager.

Devicemanager still to be found as always under
Settings/System/Storage devices
(That´s only a translation from my box´s menu. Maybe in english (and of course in other languages) it´s called different.

I quote myself (post #177 from 2012-08-25)

...
Discussion about crossepg on different german Dreambox boards goes s.th. like this:

When Oe1.6 became "closed source" with release image (3.2.x), it was still possible to use crossepg. At least two different plugins (perhaps more) were programmed by german dreambox users, which help crossepg to work on closed source Oe1.6 image.
People asked, why there isn´t such a solution for Oe2 any more.

With Oe2, DMM developers changed firmware in a way that these plugins don´t work any more, because of changes in new linux kernel, they say - but some don´t believe them.

Developers seem not to want to change Oe2 in a way that it works together with crossepg.
What they rather want is, to program a databased epg solution of their own, that doesn´t need extra thirdparty software/plugins.
...

On dreambox manufacturers board, an insider yesterday gave readers a hint, that this new databased EPG now exists.
Maybe it could be implemented in one of the next CVS images, already.

Then crossepg plugin should not be necessary any longer on dreambox.
