When I installed this image I had to initialize the HDD befre it was recognised and lost all recordings.

Today, after a hard reset the HDD is again unrecognized.

Is there a way to get around losing all the stuff previously recorded?

There are lots of green screens with this image!

If I.7.0 was my first image install I would put it down to my incompetance but no; I've installed loads of images over the years.

I installed 1.7.0 three times in total. It managed to find a personnal backup on the HDD and restore that, but then failed to recognize the HDD again for recording - although it listed it correctly as being present.

I've gone back to 1.6.7 with no problems

Green screens were a revelation I hadn't seen one since my Kathy days!

Any helpful comments other than "it's ok for me"? There is a trick for editing a linux file - fstab I think. Anyone know what it is?

but 1.6.7 is on new kernel same as 1.7!!
try fresh install (w/o personal backup restore) and you'll be happy as much as i am.
