just ordered a Dreambox 820HD, to be delivered tomorrow (26/11). Already have a brand new 2.5" drive to add.
Noticed that most of the info on the web (including YT) is in German - most pages translate automatically OK using Chrome, fortunately.
I hope I don't run in to too many problems, but enjoy making mistakes(!) and learning from them.
One of the things I haven't found too much info on is the stock Operating system - it appears this model has a non-E2 OS that's updated by browser rather than a USB stick (looks easy enough). I have found many images here (thanks) and may try a few out before settling on a "favourite".
If anyone can point me to a new to Dreambox guide/dummies guide, I would be grateful. I've downloaded the original DM user manual, which is fine, but it doesn't go in to detail on what the box could do (with different images/skins). I must make it clear that I'm not interested in any non-FTA material!
For interest I'm coming from a Humax HDR 1000S Freesat box that has been rebooting and missing recordings for a few weeks. Not uncommon.
I'm hoping the family can get used to my first Linux box... and I can find a way of making using and recording easy for them - and getting BBC iPlayer to work!!
