Amiko Alien 2+ Motor problem

Hello All, I recently bought an Amiko Alien triple tuner after using a technomate 5402hd for years. It was brought upon as my motor had packed in so I bought a new technomate 2300 motor at the same time. I set up the motor and copied over all the angles etc off the old motor. I put in my longitude and lat for my area and set the amiko to usals when pointing at 0.8w. I sent it to 13e but no picture. I climbed on the roof and noticed it had gone to about 17e. I kept on trying different sats and all were about 4 degrees out. If I then manually moved the motor to the correct setting say 13e then I got the correct picture. I was confused. I then put in my old technomate and it picked up all the sats but this time using manual setting not using usals. I had never used usals before. I then tried to set up the amiko manually but am struggling with the menu etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If they are all off by an equal amount, then probably either your lat/long is off, or the motor is not mounted pointing due south. I usually use dishpointer.com to get a good idea of where due south is, then use usals to move to a strong sat (19.2/13e) and then adjust the motor until best signal. An phone or table with VU+ app which has a signal meter is very helpful. (App works with most enigma2 images, not just for VU+) Or there are some other apps that are similar.

BTW, that is true due south, not magnetic south...

Hello Joeuser, thanks for the reply, yes I used the dishpointer app to find true south.As I said on the technomate I can set the satellite positions manually an it works well. Is there a way to set the amiko manually as the usals seems out for me. I checked my position using dishpointer and the long and lat are correct so not sure why that doesn't work, thanks

Depends on what image you are using (or Spark??) For most enigma2 images try:
Menu->Setup->Service Searching->Tuner Configuration->(choose tuner)->
Configuration mode = advanced
choose satellite
LNB = 1
Diseqc mode = 1.2
Use usals for this sat = no

Repeat last steps for each satellite.

I have not tried that image, but I think in most images you can press the yellow button to choose which audio track. If not yellow, try other colors. ;)
