- There's talk of a full-fledged heel turn for CM Punk on SmackDown. The future of his character should be revealed at tonight's SmackDown taping.

- WNW reader Brandon van Reenen sent this in... I was browsing through the international television schedule on WWE.com and noticed that under South Africa's tab, WWE Superstars is being advertised but without formal broadcast information. I checked e.tv's (the local WWE broadcaster) website but it makes no mention of it. In addition, WWE Superstars was not advertised under the UK, Canada or Australia's tab.

Post-Raw Live Report From Lafayette, LA



Wrestling News World reader Chris Reed sent the following:

I was at the Hilton in Lafayette, LA last night after the Raw event in the Cajundome, and I was able to see most Superstars getting back to the hotel. I spoke to "The King" about a few broadcasting issues w/ the company and likewise with Joey Styles and Michael Cole. All three gentleman were very polite and approachable. Also in the hotel bar was Pat Patterson, Vivkie Guererro, The Bella Twins & Mickie James. While all were enjoying their cocktails, most of them were downing burgers and fries like it was going out of style.

Last Night's WWE Raw Rating


Last night's edition of WWE Raw did a 3.6 cable rating on the USA Network off hours of 3.33 and 3.89.

WWE COO Says MMA Doesn't Have Real Stars


WWE COO Donna Goldsmith spoke at the Noble Financial Emerging Growth Equity Conference on Tuesday morning. Here are a few notes:

Donna claimed that the last five WrestleManias drew over a million buys each.

Donna said that WWE is now hoping to tour China in 2011.

Donna stated that MMA isn't much of a threat to WWE because MMA doesn't have real stars or storylines. "Somebody gets knocked out and they're hurt and that may be the last you ever see from them again" while WWE can repackage it's superstars.

Donna mentioned that WWE is working on extending one of it's TV deals in Mexico.

ECW On Sci-Fi Main Event Announced


Tonight's edition of ECW on Sci-Fi will be headlined by ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer & Christian vs. The Hart Dynasty.

Tommy Dreamer Update


The word going around backstage at tonight's ECW/SmackDown taping in Biloxi, Mississippi is that Tommy Dreamer has indeed signed a new contract with WWE. We do not have the terms of the deal at this time but the last I heard he was mulling over a multi-year agreement.

Solution To Fill Recently Vacated WWE Championship


As Luke posted earlier here on the site, WWE announced during tonight's edition of ECW on Sci-Fi that next week's special three-hour edition of Raw will feature a Fatal 4-Way Match to determine who will fill the vacated WWE Championship. The participants will be John Cena, Triple H, The Big Show, and Randy Orton. As mentioned several times here on the site, the title was vacated due to Batista being injured.

More On Monday's Raw Rating, Strange Macho Man Coincidence, Batista A Yankees Fan


- As Richard reported earlier this evening, last night’s edition of Raw drew a 3.6 cable rating. The first hour was seen by 4,873,000 viewers while the second was seen by 5,935,000 viewers. 67% of the audience was male with a median age of 36.

- WWE's Macho Madness DVD was released in stores nationwide today. In what seems to be a very strange coincidence, WNW Blogger Kendra Bunyon sent word that a Slim Jim plant exploded today in Garner, North Carolina. One person has been confirmed dead with another two missing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and family of these workers. You can read more about the explosion at this link. If you remember, "Macho Man" Randy Savage served as a spokeman for Slim Jim throughout the 90s.

- WNW reader Christian sent the following… I was watching the MY9(the My Network TV affiliate in New York) news and they had an interview with New York Yankees Outfielder Johnny Damon. The wrestling related part of the interview is that they asked Johnny who his favorite WWE Superstar was and he replied, Batista. Johnny frequently comes to the plate with Batista's theme song playing in the background. Johnny told the interviewer that Batista is a huge Yankee fan.

WWE Smackdown: (Airing This Friday)
* New World Hvt. Champion C.M. Punk came out for a promo and received a mixed reaction from the crowd. He said he capitalized on the opportunity instead of "stealing" it. He was a babyface throughout the promo and said he'll bring honor, integrity, and respect back to the title. Jeff Hardy came out and said Punk didn't "earn" it. Punk said Hardy needs to understand his situation. Hardy says he's selfish. Hardy added that he wants his rematch tonight. Edge came out and said he wants a rematch. He said Punk wants to be him. Hardy attacked Edge and Punk. Hardy hit the Swanton on Punk while Edge fell outside. Teddy Long came out and announced that Edge would face Hardy in the Smackdown main event, and the winner would challenge Punk on Monday's WWE Raw three-for-all show.

* Teddy and Chris Jericho talked backstage. Jericho said he wants in the world title hunt. Teddy said okay, but said he would be facing Punk in a non-title match later in the show.

* Jericho cut a promo. He said he "saved" Mysterio by unmasking him.

* World champion CM Punk defeated Chris Jericho. Punk won the non-title match clean with the GTS.

* Dolph Ziggler defeated The Great Khali via countout.

* Michelle McCool & Layla defeated WWE Women’s champion Melina & Eve Torres.

* John Morrison & R-Truth defeated Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas.

* Edge defeated Jeff Hardy by DQ when CM Punk got involved. C.M. Punk was on commentary for the match. Hardy worked on Edge's shoulder, while Edge worked on Hardy's leg. Edge tossed Hardy into Punk, who went after Edge causing the DQ. All three brawled after the bell until Punk hit the GTS on Edge and Hardy.

Dark Main Event:
* World champ CM Punk & Jeff Hardy beat Chris Jericho and Edge in a dark steel cage match. Very weak cage! When they ran into it, the cage split in half! It took less than five minutes for the ring crew to hook up, though. After the match, Hardy nailed Punk with the Twist of Fate.

Kennedy Working On A "Secret Project", Chris Jericho/VH1, New SummerSlam Logo/Slim Jim


- Ken Anderson (formerly Ken Kennedy) wrote on his Twitter page last night he is working on a "secret project" and it will involve the only thing he's ever wanted to do which is "entertain". It will be interesting to see if Anderson pursues a career in wrestling after his non-compete agreement with WWE expires as I've heard his shoulder is worse than originally thought.

- Chris Jericho wrote on his Twitter page he is going to Los Angeles to shoot "100 Most Shocking Moments In Rock" for VH1. Jericho confirmed he will be hosting the show.

WWE COO Speaks, Raw's New GM, Steamboat Advertised, WWE Overseas


- You can view WWE Chief Operating Officer Donna Goldsmith's presentation at the Noble Financial Emerging Growth Equity Conference yesterday at this link.

- In response to numerous emails we've received, I have yet to hear of a replacement for Vickie Guerrero as the on-screen General Manager for Raw. Many are speculating it could be Ric Flair with next week's show being in Charlotte, North Carolina, however, I have heard nothing along those lines yet.

- Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat is being advertised locally for Sunday's SmackDown/ECW house show from the Giant Center in Hershey. PA. Steamboat worked last weekend's WWE Supershow house show against Sheamus.

- WWE's Raw brand is currently on an overseas tour of Finland, the Czech Republic, Serbia and France. The crew will run a show tonight at Ice Hall in Helskinki, Finland.

2009 WWE Yearbook, JBL Entering MMA, Time Warner Dropping HDNet

- Wrestling News World reader Juan sent word that The Bleacher Report website has posted a 2009 WWE Yearbook. You can check it out at this link.

- Wrestling News World reader Guy Landau sent word that Time Warner Cable will be dropping HDNet Channels Nationwide on May 31st. HDNet is the network that carries Ring Of Honor’s weekly television show.

- John "Bradshaw" Layfield recently told Oddjack.com that he is considering entering the MMA world, not as a fighter, but as a promoter. JBL told the website that he is looking at helping promote Kentucky-based MMA organization Vyper Fight League and put them on the map. You can read more at this link.

Why WWE Waited On Announcing Umaga's Wellness Policy Violation


The Sun out of the United Kingdom has published an article on WWE confirming that Umaga was released from WWE due to his second Wellness Policy violation and his unwillingness to attend a rehabilitation facility. The article states that the company waited on announcing the drug test failure due to the unusual nature of the termination. WWE officials had to review the policy since he didn’t fall foul of the 'three strikes and you're out' rule.

Plans For Raw's Top Program, Jericho's Appearance On VH1, WWE Dominates DVD Sales, More


- There are plans to resume the Triple H vs. Randy Orton feud. WWE gave the program a break after Backlash by holding Triple H off of television for a month. Company officials didn't want to blow it off because of how over it was which is why Batista was inserted to give it a break.

- The episode of "100 Most Shocking Moments In Rock" on VH1 hosted by Chris Jericho is scheduled to begin airing on the network in November. Jericho taped the show in Los Angeles yesterday.
