Detailed Interview Recap With Top XPW Star Supreme

Neal Jones sent along the following:

Supreme
By Andrew Pritchard

Supreme joined the In Your Head Crew for a XPW 10th Anniversary Countdown, Jack, One Inch Biceps and Barbie Richards conducted the interview for the August 21, 2009 edition of In Your Head Wrestling Radio.

XPW 10th Anniversay Super Show at the:
The Arena
6655 Santa Monica Blvd.
Los Angeles CA

For more information on getting your tickets and the complete run down of the card please visit: TheXPW.com

Jack asks what are his thoughts on Hardcore Homo Angel saying previously in the show that when he wins the King of the Death Match title he’s going to paint the title pink, Supreme says that he’s never really thought about this before but he’d probably rip his ass out or tear him apart because it’s a disgusting thought.

Jack asks if he’s looking forward to the upcoming XPW show, Supreme says that he’s definitely looking forward to the show, he says they are his favourite shows to do a time where he gets to defend his King of the Death Match title as he loves defending it.

Jack asks about the XPW Cold Day in Hell match with Necro Butcher, Supreme says he loved it and that it was a great match, it was the first time he faced Necro, he says he was a great opponent and has his respect, he says he got his ass beat most of the match but he came out the victor and he was definitely happy with that.

Jack asks what the most unusual thing he’s ever used in a match, Supreme says that he doesn’t really know because in XPW they had Piñata’s with Barbed wire wrapped around them and its hard to remember everything which people give you to use, but he says probably putting someone through a Piñata in Barbed wire. Jack asks if it was something brought to the arena, Supreme says they did a few shows where the fans would bring the weapons and then they’d just have them on the side and they’d just use them. Jack asks if he likes the shows where they interact with the fans and people bring the weapons, Supreme says they are always fun because you can see how innovative the fans are and the things they come up with because when you go over a match with the tables and the other stuff but the fans will be at home putting the stuff together, the Paint roller they’ll wrap it in thumb stacks.

A caller asks his opinion on the Rob Black and Lizzy Borden indictment with the Porn that they’ve done, Supreme says he doesn’t think about it too much but he hears it here and there, and its kind of sad they have to go through it and do that for such a minor thing considering people have done a lot worse.

TNA Notes: Vince Russo's Future with TNA, Lashley's Nickname

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that although there have been some shake-ups made in TNA's creative department since Jeff Jarrett went on a hiatus from the company, the feeling is that Vince Russo will remain with the company until after the Bound For Glory PPV. TNA has creative plans in place leading up to their "Wrestlemania" of the year, so Russo will most likely remain with the team until the PPV. After Bound For Glory, however, the storylines in TNA are generally brand new, so Russo could be let go at that time.

It appears as if Bobby Lashley will now be referred to as "The Boss" in TNA. As announced last night on Impact, Dixie Carter will appear on next week's show to reveal what Lashley's official role with the company will be.

Lesnar Favorite Over Carwin, What's The SSlam Main Event?

Current betting odds have Brock Lesnar a slight favorite over Shane Carwin, for their upcoming UFC Heavyweight title fight at UFC 106 in November. Most odds have the fight: -180 (Brock Lesnar) and +150 (Shane Carwin). In terms of $100, if you bet $100 on Carwin and he wins, you clear $50 profit. To win $100 betting on Lesnar, you'd need to put up $180.

As noted earlier, lots of radio advertisements are being promoted as if D-X vs. Legacy will be the final match at the SummerSlam PPV this weekend. WrestleZone.com will have a big exclusive later today (or early tomorrow) on where the matches will wind up and why.

Hardy/Next Week's SD! Taping, Possible SSlam Spoiler

As we reported previously, Jeff Hardy will work the WWE TV tapings following SummerSlam this Sunday. Hardy's match on Tuesday at the SmackDown! taping in Phoenix, Arizona is yet another steel cage match against CM Punk for the World title. That of course will be the dark match main event of the evening.

Local advertisements for SmackDown! in Rockford, IL. on September 8th feature Chris Jericho & Big Show vs. Great Khali & Rey Mysterio. Take that for what it's worth. (Thanks to Brandon Moller)

Cena Talks Vince Into PG Rating For WWE, Beef With Orton?

John Cena threw out the first pitch at the L.A. Dodgers game this past Thursday night at Dodger Stadium. Prior the pitch, Cena was interviewed for Sporting News Radio.

Cena talked a lot of baseball and then discussed some WWE related topics. He claims he was personally very outspoken to Vince McMahon and others within WWE about the company gearing their programming more towards the PG-rating. He said he has strong feelings about the product being family friendly.

He also talked about this weekend's big SummerSlam pay-per view. He talked about being happy to have the show in L.A. this year. He said he's looking forward to challenging for the WWE title against Randy Orton, who he calls the most gifted wrestler he's seen since Shawn Michaels. He said while he respects him, he doesn't respect what Orton represents inside or outside the ring. He then seriously said he wasn't joking - he really doesn't care for Orton.

Taz Still On WWE TV; "Forgotten Gems" Of SummerSlam

Current TNA announcer Taz is still being featured on episodes of WWE Classics On Demand. Each week's installment of the weekly ECW episode features wrap-arounds with he and Joey Styles. They are taped well in advance and Tommy Dreamer is the likely replacement when the time comes to film more.

Mike Brown sent along the following: DirecTV is running a loop of several "forgotten gems" of SummerSlam on channel 115. The special is hosted by "Mean" Gene Okerlund. I came in toward the end of Shawn Michaels versus Rick Martel as they were fighting over Sherri Martel. The next up was Eddie Guerrero versus Edge from 2002. I understand that Bret Hart versus Undertaker with Shawn Michaels as the guest ref is also in the rotation.

Cody Rhodes Speaks On HBK, SummerSlam, WWE's Stars

The Fanhouse has a new interview with Legacy member Cody Rhodes posted online. Below are some excerpts from that interview:

On working with Shawn Michaels: "All I can say is this: I very much am looking forward to wrestling with Shawn Michaels, whether he likes it or not, because Shawn Michaels was my favorite wrestler growing up. My poor old dad had to hear that countless times. In the ring, to be billed on the same card as him, I could go nuts and be a fan over it, but I'm gonna approach it as a competitor in the game that I'm in."

On working at a SummerSlam PPV: "Ahh, I get angry when young talent doesn't realize how big of a deal that is. When I grew up, SummerSlam 1992, I must've gone to a Blockbuster every week and rented that, and re-rented it. Now I'm on SummerSlam wrestling two guys who have been on countless of the big four shows. You can get as excited or giddy about the match as you want, but all they are for me and for most of the superstars, is they're an opportunity. They're the chance to submit -- and no pun intended -- your legacy ... to say this is what I was capable of on that night."

On a breakout star in WWE: "I personally think that when people say stuff like that, when people say there hasn't been a breakout, I ask them if they saw the last breakout coming. Did anyone foresee "Stone Cold" Steve Austin? Did anyone see John Cena coming? If anyone tells you yes, then they're lying to you. Monday Night Raw is like a varsity team. And it's filled with freshmen. Very talented, very young, but it's something the fans are now getting to grow with. It's a cool experience. I can remember watching Michaels go from tag to Intercontinental Champion to taking the longest run possible to the WWE championship. I think it might be a while till somebody becomes that breakout star, but I know that you have a lot of hopefuls. You have a United States Champion who's more talented than most in Kofi Kingston. You have a legit All-American in Jack Swagger. You have a guy who can do things that Cirque du Soleil can't do with wires and walls in Evan Bourne. And you have me and Ted DiBiase, who will spend our dying breath on trying to make sure that we're remembered for something else than being the sons of "The Million Dollar Man" and "The American Dream.""

More Jeff Hardy News, Backstage Names at SummerSlam

Although Matt Hardy did Tweet yesterday claiming that Jeff would be "with WWE after SummerSlam," it's being reported by PWInsider.com that the current plans call for Jeff to work the Smackdown taping following the PPV and then leave the company. So although Matt claiming that Jeff will be with WWE after SummerSlam would then technically be true, most reports are indicating that it will not be for very long.

In addition to Jeff Hardy bringing his finace to SummerSlam, it's also being reported that former TNA and WWE star Shannon Moore is also attending the event as a guest of Hardy's.

Detailed Fan Recap of Mick Foley's Stand Up Comedy Set

Thanks to Mando Man for sending in this recap:

-Show was pretty full but not sold out, and lasted two hours.

-In attendance were: Joey Ryan, Brian Kendrick, Christopher Daniels, comedian Craig Robinson (Knocked Up), Barry Bloom (Foley's manager), Barry Blaustein (Beyond the Mat director), and porn star Christie Canyon.

-There was a ring announcer who introduced all of the stand ups, and a referee who searched them for foreign objects and gave them the time limits for their sets. The stand-ups had entrance music (mostly old WWE stuff) and each set began with a ring of the bell.

-Colt Cabana opened the show and did ten minutes of all wrestling related jokes that went over very well with the crowd of wresting fans. His material was very dirty.

He opened by calling Vince McMahon a jerk (which got a big pop). He did jokes about how stale the Summerslam card is and how boring it is to see Triple H, John Cena, and Randy Orton in all of the main events.

He did a bit about watching porn while having wresting on in the background, thus causing Jim Ross to do play by play for his porn, giving new meaning to the word "slobberknocker."

He did a joke about Josh Matthews doing coke and giving him (Colt) handjobs under the announce table.

He called Ric Flair and asshole and called all of the Divas very derogatory names, doing a series of jokes about them and using Ashley Massaro and the Bella Twins for punchlines.

He made fun of JBL's weird locker room hazing techniques, implying that they weren't exactly masculine. He closed by making fun of his WWE persona, saying he couldn't even get attention from 70-year-old Pat Patterson when he flirted with him.

He joked that WWE called him Scotty Goldman because "Jewy the Jewerton" was already taken. He ended the set with a series of punchlines that finished the sentence, "My career in WWE was so pathetic.." One was, "My career in WWE was so pathetic..even TNA won't even sign me."

Again, Colt's material went over very well with the live crowd and he got huge laughs throughout.

-He was followed by three "normal" stand ups who did non-wrestling related material.

-Mick Foley headlined. He entered to his old WWE music, but when he got to the mic he said he couldn't use that anymore and wanted to reenter to more appropriate music. He then reentered to Billy Gunn's old "I'm an ass man" song, which got a big laugh.

Mick told stories rather than doing jokes, mostly about porn star Christy Canyon, who was in attendance. He told long stories about how watching her porn helped him to have the stamina to conceive his third and fourth childs. Mick read a list of wrestle/porn star combo names from Jeremy Borash's twitter. Then Craig Robinson played piano while Mick sang a short song about Canyon. He told an old Al Snow story as well.

Mick's set was long, and not particularly strong. The audience was getting shifty near the end. He went way over his allotted time, causing a minor panic amongst the Improv employees who were frantically flashing the red light (signal in stand-up clubs) to get him off stage so they could turn over the house for the 10:00 p.m. show.

Mick said that his pay for the show was being donated to Wrestler's Rescue, to help buy Steve Williams a voice box.

Shane Carwin Discusses Hatred For Brock Lesnar

The following is an excerpt from an interview with Shane Carwin, the next contender to UFC champion Brock Lesnar at UFC 106 in November:

“I think hate is a strong word, but yeah, I hate what he did after UFC 100. I hate that he disrespected the greatest sporting fans in the world and I can’t wait to fight him. … Really it comes down to respect and I do not think that he respects the sport or the fans of this sport. He may be well known, but fame does not equal respect.”

Check out the complete interview at this link.
