ECW Announces a New No. 1 Contender to Christian's Title

It was announced on ECW tonight that William Regal has been named the new number one contender to Christian's ECW Championship. It was not announced, however, whether or not the title bout will take place at SummerSlam.

Full Recap of Triple H on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon"

I just finished watching Triple H's appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and overall I thought it was a really fun segment. At the top of the show, Fallon was talking about how several years ago when him and the writing staff were developing the show, he tossed out the idea of using a trap door they had on the set in the audience to raise a guest out of - complete with smoke - in "dramatic fashion." Jimmy went on to suggest that someone like Triple H would be ideal for the concept. He then went on to say that at the time it was just an idea, but who knew that several years later they would actually have Triple H on the show as a guest. He noted that there wouldn't be any smoke though. Or maybe there would.

Following Fallon's first guest, actor Ashton Kutcher, Jimmy announced Triple H and sure enough, complete with smoke effects, The Game emerged from a trap door in the audience and made his entrance while The Roots played "King of Kings" by Motorhead.

The segment began with Fallon and Kutcher both talking about how they are huge WWE fans and it really did seem like Fallon was genuine in his knowledge and enjoyment of the Triple H character. Fallon then asked Triple H who he was wrestling at SummerSlam and HHH said he was teaming with Shawn Michaels to face Legacy. Fallon wanted to know if Triple H was going to post a "Tweet" after the match to which Triple H responded by saying he was not on Twitter and had no idea what a Tweet was; or a Twat. Kutcher and HHH then went back and forth making Twat jokes and each was censored as Fallon nervously laughed.

Fallon then brought up the new Smackdown vs Raw 2010 video game and Triple H said he had some footage of the game featuring a downloadable Jimmy Fallon character. They then ran some funny footage of a Triple H vs Jimmy Fallon match which The Game dominated. The segment ended with Fallon thanking Triple H and plugging both SummerSlam and the network premiere of Wrestlemania 25 on NBC. If you recorded it, it's definitely worth checking out, because although the segment is pretty short in comparison to other segments, it's a fun few minutes.

* Jeff Hardy's music hits and he comes to the ring. Hardy sells the entire time at ringside and can barely lift the title before leaving.

* Dolph Ziggler b. Finlay. Mike Knox comes out and interferes and hits Finlay with his shelleigh. After the match, Knox beats down Finlay.

* Kane has Ranjin Singh held captive backstage. He does a 24-style hostage video.

* They do a Maria/Melina promo. It is announced Michelle McCool will return to SmackDown next week.

TNA Promising A Big Surprise, Attend A Knockout's BDay Party

TNA is advertising another surprise to be announced on this week's Impact broadcast. The ad reads, "4-Way Knockout Brawl.. And TNA Drops Another Bombshell That Will Knock You Out." This could be referring to the debut of TNA Knockout Ayako Hamada.

Melissa Anderson, who works in TNA under the name Raisha Saeed, has announced that she will be celebrating her birthday along with fellow Knockout Awesome Kong on August 21st at The Town Danceboutique in Washington D.C. The public is welcome to attend the party, and more information can be found if you click here.

Kevin Nash On TNA Booking, Abyss, Scott Hall, WWE & More

Kevin discusses the weight he lost and shape he is in:

“I think I move better. I think my movement is better than it’s been. I think, really, the biggest thing is being with Kurt [Angle] and watching Kurt’s work ethic night in and night out – He sets the bar very, very high. He does it by example and he fires you up. He makes you want to push yourself. I’m a jock. That’s just who I am. And Kurt’s the captain of the team. And when he sets the bar and goes out there night it and night out as beat up as he is and goes as hard as he does, it makes it very difficult for me to not at least try to do the same.”

One of the reasons he negotiated to return to WWE before resigning with TNA:

“My whole thing was that I came into prominence with Shawn. And I know that Shawn is thinking about – I don’t think he’s going to be doing it that much longer. And I kind of wanted to have that circle of life. I wanted it on my wall of shame in my house to have that 1993 picture of Shawn Michaels doing a double-bicep pose with the black headed Diesel behind him and then I wanted a 2010 photo of Shawn Michaels doing the double-bicep pose with the gray-haired Diesel behind him.”

Scott Hall:

“I don’t feel guilty, but I don’t think sad even begins to cover it. Because, to me, Scott Hall is probably one of the most talented guys I’ve ever been around in my life. One of the most charismatic. It crushes me. I’ve tried. Everybody’s tried. But as much as you want somebody to live a sober life, unless they want to, it’s just not going to happen. And I’ve been around it. Scott’s been a close friend of mine. I’ve seen the demon of addiction and, God, it’s just horrible. And people say, ‘Well if you want, you can get clean.’ I’m of the mindset, being around it as much as I have on so many different levels with so many different guys, that it’s a disease. It is absolutely a disease and it has to be treated as a disease. And, you know, some people don’t make it from a disease.”

Kevin Nash as TNA Booker:

‘I have a 13-year-old son who needs a father way more than TNA needs a booker… I don’t do anything half-assed. If you put me in there, it means I’m thinking about it 24/7. You have to, because when you’re lying there in the sun, you get an idea and it’s like, ‘God, that’s way better than I thought.’ And you’ve got to get up and you’ve got to write it down. And you’ve got to change in and so on. I’m really good friends with [Vince] Russo. And I see what he has to go through and the situation that happened where kind of right before the pay per view, some political things go down, and he’s left with a show with a bunch of gaps in it and he’s got to do his best to fill it. And those are the things that take years off your life. And at this point, right now, like what we talked about earlier – I’m closer to dying. So, I don’t need the stress and they can’t put enough zeros at the end of my paycheck.

“…For years Stallone and Shwarzenegger – they said what horrible actors they are. But you know then they do $240 million at the box office. So, I believe there’s something to critics. But, you know what, I believe that the 10-16-year-old kid, who’s really the meat and potatoes of your demographic, and then from there the 18-35 year-old demographic – I’ve never had a 9-year-old kid come up to me and say, ‘I think you need to pick up your workrate.’ ”

FCW Crowns a New World Heavyweight Champion Tonight

We are sending you this email to update you on the breaking news coming out of the FCW Arena from tonight’s record-breaking 50th TV Taping! In an enthralling main event match, which pitted FCW Heavyweight Champion Tyler Reks against challenger Heath Slater, the FCW crowd were treated to a classic encounter which ultimately saw Heath Slater’s hand raised and a new champion crowned. Slater, who in recent weeks has shown an uncompromising mean streak, thus alienating much of his fan base, gained the victory by pinfall. Well this Saturday, August 15th, at the Dade City Armory, there will certainly be one man looking to argue with him, because Heath Slater will be making his first FCW Heavyweight Title defense against number one contender, Joe Hennig. Fans will recall that Slater and Hennig were once a formidable team in FCW, holding the FCW Tag Titles for a considerable period earlier in the year. However, the relationship soured and Slater’s recent attitude change has left a lot of bad blood between the pair. Hennig, who is the son of WWE Hall-of-Famer, Mr Perfect, has previously held the FCW Heavyweight crown and would love nothing more than to take the title from his former partner on Saturday night in Dade City. With both men fired up and raring to go, FCW fans are sure to be treated to an almighty battle at the Dade City Armory this Saturday!

Exclusive Jeff Hardy Update: A Hardy Boys Tour in the Works?

We exclusively reported last week that Jeff Hardy plans to take an extended break from WWE following the SummerSlam PPV. While sources close to Hardy are still confident that he does in fact plan to take a hiatus from the company, it should be noted that WWE is pitching several ideas to Hardy and working hard at keeping him from leaving as they don't want to lose one of their top baby faces.

According to a source I spoke with today, one idea pitched to both Matt and Jeff Hardy would see the two reunite as a tag team for a run billed as "The Hardy Boyz Tour," and the team would work a long term program with Chris Jericho and Big Show for The Unified Tag Team Titles. The tag matches would be booked on TV, PPV's and house shows across the country, and would most likely culminate in The Hardy Boyz winning the tag titles and having another run with the gold.

While nothing has been agreed upon, and we do not have any idea whether or not Jeff is open to any of the ideas creative is pitching for him, it should be noted that WWE is trying their hardest to offer something to Jeff that will intrigue him enough to continue working for the company following SummerSlam.

UFC 100 w/ Lesnar vs. Mir 2 On Spike TV This Saturday

Brock LesnarUFC will be airing their most successful pay-per view in company history for free this coming Saturday night as UFC 100 with a main-event of Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir 2 for the UFC Heavyweight title will air on Spike TV.

The reason? UFC is counter-programming the big Strikeforce show with Gina Carano vs. Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos which airs live for free on Showtime this Saturday.

Rock To Play Astronaut, Jimmy Snuka's Daughter Wrestling

The official release date for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's new film "Planet 51", where Johnson plays an astronaut, is November 20th.

Backstage News: Update On Batista's Injury, Return Status

BatistaAccording to PWInsider.com, Batista has been cleared for a full-fledged return to physical workouts and is scheduled to be seen by doctors before the end of August to evaluate his rehab progress.

As we reported a while back, Batista is currently set to travel to Kissimmee, Florida for an FCW appearance at the end of this month.

Report: Low Attendance Numbers for WWE in Canada

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE's recent Canadian tour did not do as well as most would have thought considering WWE is generally huge in Canada. This past Monday night's Raw show in Calgary drew a mere 7,000 people, with events in Medicine Hat on August 9 and Red Deer on August 10 drawing around 1,000 people. The August 11th Smackdown/ECW taping drew 10,500, and while not a huge gate, was the strongest draw for WWE of the week.

Nick Bockwinkle/Surgery Update, SD! vs Raw 2010 WebsitE

We reported several days ago that Nick Bockwinkle recently underwent surgery and The Wrestling Observer is providing the following update. On June 21st, Bockwinkle had a stint surgically placed in an artery on the right side of his neck. The artery was reportedly creating issues with blood flow to the brain. It's being said that by now Bockwinkle has nearly made a full recovery.
