Richard Reacts: Very good match with an awesome go-home sequence. Christian is the best in-ring worker in WWE right now and deserves more but he certainly deserved to go over here. Dreamer still has it as he was completely vintage tonight. There were some silent moments from the crowd but they got into it for the title change.

After the match, Christian and Dreamer embrace as Christian celebrates in the ring.

We're backstage with Todd Grisham who's with the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show and Chris Jericho. Show says him and Jericho aren't friends but you don't have to be friends to be champions. Richard Reacts: A good, physical Divas match. It wasn't Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong but the bout came across well on pay-per-view. McCool retained out of nowhere and cut her elbow but well done by both workers.

Randy Orton (c) vs. Triple H vs. John Cena
Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship

John Cena, one of the challengers, is out first to a mixture of cheers and boos. Triple H, another one of the challengers, is out next. There is some sort of delay before Orton's music plays. Winner & still WWE Champion - Randy Orton

Richard Reacts: Good match... until the finish. I didn't like the go-home where the referee acted like he didn't know what to do when Orton tapped in half of the STF by Cena and the Sharpshooter by Triple H. Typical Legacy interference but that could have been booked better. Other than that it was an enjoyable bout. I didn't expect a title change before SummerSlam for the WWE Championship.

Backstage, The Miz asks Maryse if she needs help stretching. Maryse says he can meet her after her match and she'll show him her other moves. Miz goes for a kiss but Maryse says he didn't win the US Championship tonight and she doesn't want to be seen with a loser. He asks Maryse who does she think she is. Mysterio finally hits 619 on Ziggler followed by a big splash to get the pin and retain the championship.

Winner & still WWE Intercontinental Champion - Rey Mysterio

Richard Reacts: Good match but I didn't like where it was booked on the crowd. The Divas Championship Match killed the crowd and they never woke up for the virtually unknown Dolph Ziggler. However, Ziggler held his own and looked good against Mysterio but no one is going to look bad working with Rey. I also question booking a newb like Ziggler this high up on a PPV card as it is an awful lot of pressure to put on an up and coming superstar. Ziggler has a very bright future in WWE and didn't do anything in my eyes to hurt that with the WWE office tonight.

What Happened After WWE NOC, JTG Tweets During PPV, Problems Ordering

- After WWE Night of Champions went off the air, Jeff Hardy celebrated his big win in the ring. CM Punk came back in the ring and stuck his hand out for Jeff. Jeff walked out as the crowd chanted "just say no" but he came back in and shook Punk's hand briefly. Hardy walked around and greeted fans and put a fan in the ring with him that was pointed out by Lilian Garcia. (Thanks to WNW reader Katie).

- JTG was the only WWE worker on my Twitter list that was Tweeting during tonight's pay-per-view. I was told WWE officials are really cracking down on cell phone usage backstage during shows, so maybe it wasn't the best idea from JTG.

- WNW reader Kenny Williams sent this in... I ordered the Night of Champions PPV and for two hours, my screen was black. I called my cable company and was told that the entire greater Cincinnati area, mostly with Time Warner Cable service, would not be able to see the event even though people had already ordered it

Possible Identity of the Co-Host For Monday’s WWE RAW

Confirmed WWE RAW guest host Jeremy Piven teased bringing a special co-host with him to the show this Monday, and a new Twitter update appears to reveal the co-host’s identity.

Sunday afternoon, Piven wrote, “With me tomorrow night on Raw is a gentleman u know from “The hangover” and he also has a day job.”

Based on that description, it appears that Ed Helms will be joining Piven on Monday’s RAW. Helms was in “The Hangover,” appears with Piven in upcoming film “The Goods” and also stars as Andy Bernard on “The Office” (which explains the “day job” hint).

Helms has not been officially confirmed for RAW, but all indications from Piven’s hint are that he will indeed be appearing.

WWE Star With "Three Strikes" Returns At House Show

The PWTorch.com Newsletter reports that Eugene (real name Nick Dinsmore) made his official WWE return at Saturday night’s SmackDown/ECW house show in New Hampshire.

Eugene was released on September 1, 2007 for reportedly receiving his third strike in the WWE Wellness program.

Eugene wrestled Ricky Ortiz in the third match on the card, and is expected to feud with Ortiz when he returns to TV on the SmackDown brand. His return is rumored for the August 7th episode, but things can always change.

According to official documents released earlier this year, WWE released Eugene for his third failed Wellness test.

Latest on Jeff Jarrett and TNA

While the situation with Jeff Jarrett and Karen Angle was said to be known among a few people in TNA for some time now (being a combination of wrestlers and some in the office), a majority of people were shocked to hear the news when it got out through the "Bubba the Love Sponge" radio show.

It should be noted that Karen is not living in Hendersonville, TN with Jeff, but she is there a lot of the time and was there as recently as this past week. The relationship between Jeff and Karen goes back many months and was even said to be going on before the official divorce between Karen and Kurt Angle.

No one seems to know when Jarrett will be returning to the company, but some have stated his absence at the last set of TV tapings was noticeable with Vince Russo pushing ideas without that "Jarrett filter" as some have described it. The company already cut creative team member Dutch Mantel this week along with road agent Savio Vega in moves that were described as the first of many. While it was stated earlier that the company had no plans to seek outside booking help, the release of Mantel has gotten people talking (especially since he was considered a among the many "Jarrett allies") and how some big changes could be coming with Jarrett gone.

Update on Bobby Lashley in TNA

Bobby Lashley isn't expected to be doing any hard matches until October reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He is trying to avoid any injuries as he is training for an upcoming fight with the same company that helped promote "Ultimate Chaos" back in late June when Lashley fought Bob Sapp. The company is running an event in Denver soon and there was talks at one of point of having Lashley take on Tank Abbott, but that is now off since Abbott is fighting that night in Birmingham. Lashley is expected to start having more matches in TNA after this fight.

Backstage News On Why Brian Kendrick Was Fired

The latest victim of WWE's dreaded "future endeavors" announcement was The Brian Kendrick, and a PWInsider report sheds the first bit of light on the matter.

According to the report, Kendrick's release can largely be attributed to his backstage attitude and motivation as a performer. The internal feeling was that while Kendrick did what he was told, he carried a negative attitude and gave the impression that he did not deeply care about being there. WWE thus saw little potential for Kendrick to breakout as a valuable member of the roster and opted to sever its ties with the wrestler.

It remains to be seen if Kendrick's release is a compounded consequence of his behavior or if a specific incident brought WWE officials' concerns to a boil.

Sources are also quick to mention reports that Kendrick was one of WWE's most frequently-fined Superstars for marijuana use, although it is unclear if that played any role in his release--under the Wellness Policy, there is no punishment, beyond the fine, for using the drug.

7. Main event, 3 on 2 handicap: MARK HENRY & JOHN CENA W RANDY ORTON, CODY RHODES, & TED DIBIASE in the best match of the card. HENRY pinned DIBIASE for the win, after headbutting all 3 heels.

Match was exciting, about 25 minutes. Huge pops for Cena (biggest) and Orton coming in; equally huge pop for Henry when he got the hot tag toward the finish, after heels had beaten on Cena for 15 minutes.

Cena Throws B-Day Celebration For Referee At House Show

"After the match, Cena took the mic, called "senior official Mike Chioda" back to the ring and announced that today was a big day for him. He said Chioda is a diehard Steelers fan, which drew big boos from the Eastern Pennsylvania crowd. He then said he was kidding and that Chioda is an Eagles fan and a Pennsylvania boy who "offically" turns 50 years old today. The crowd popped big. Cena then led the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday" and told Chioda that instead of 50 birthday punches, he gets a big sweaty hug from Henry. That ended the show. The crowd seemed very happy on the way out the doors."

New JR Blog: HBK To Return Soon, Steiner, More

Jim RossThe following is an excerpt from the latest online blog-commentary of WWE announcer and Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

- Yes, I feel that HBK will be back in WWE action soon, as do most. Furthermore if Shawn's schedule is properly managed he can continue to contribute at a high level for several years to come, if he so chooses. My opinion is that in the upcoming years that a HBK at 75% is better than the vast majority of the men who earn a living in the wrestling biz today.

- My thoughts on the Steiners is that they were one of my favorite, all time tag teams and they were as dominate as any duo of their era. They had brotherly chemistry as a unit and always seem to be most comfortable as a tag team. I loved their toughness and athletic abilities plus they had "it" as a team back.

- Why do announcers look at the TV monitors while broadcasting a show and is that the best way to do one's broadcasting job? Uh, yes. If announcers don't watch the monitors then they don't know what the fans are seeing at home and it really isn't a good idea to ignore the TV viewers and what they are seeing. Wrestling broadcasters in general over talk their TV shows and should allow the pictures to tell more of the story as TV wrestling isn't radio. Hearing announcers ramble on with endless run-on sentences about something totally different than what the viewer's are seeing on their TV screen can become extremely annoying. I will also admit that I have been guilty of this broadcasting transgression.

- Why aren't there more protagonist/antagonist announce teams like there was with Monsoon/Ventura, JR/Heyman, etc? I don't have a profound answer on this subject but I have my assumptions. I think that organizations may feel like it is too "old school 'rasslin" and don't want to go there. It also could be the announce talent base that man many announce positions. It is an art form to be able to balance the good guy/bad guy chemistry in a broadcast booth and not make the show about the announcers but instead focus on the talent. I love the angst that can be created in the right broadcast setting but as long as the broadcasters remember that they are there to enhance the wrestlers' perception/stature/personas. I will admit that some of the most fun I ever had broadcasting was with partners who were perceived as villains such as the aforementioned and talented Heyman, whose persona was extremely easy to dislike, Jerry Lawler in the early to mid 90's whose sarcastic wit was usually spot on and whose timing with yours truly was damn near seamless, and Jim Cornette who had an amazing understanding of the business and knew his antagonist role amazingly well and was one of the very best broadcasters for the genre of pro wrestling that I ever worked with in my 30+ years.

- My thoughts for young wrestlers....talent development is an area that I loved being a part of at one time in my career and I am proud of the track record we had in helping launch or re-launch some distinguished careers in WCW and WWE. In a nutshell, young talents must be amplified versions of THEMSELVES and not portray what they PERCEIVE a pro wrestler to be. Bad acting is generally an automatic kiss 'o death. Study the classic stars throughly and discover what made those men standout. When doing this, one will usually discover that the greats of the past were simply being enhanced versions of themselves. They also understood their audience throughly and were able to engage the audience with the required "emotional investment."
