Hello and thank you in advance.

I have been out of the loop for over 15yrs, my last receiver was a Pansat2500a (I still have it) , which was in working order when I stopped due to moving where I could not put up my dish, and now that I am able to put it up at my new house I wanted to get back into tinkering into this hobby again, so I am not sure what type of receiver I should get? I believe I have a 39" dish with motor. I know a lot of things have changed and not sure what the receiver requirements are now. I would like to be able to load Bins to it (i think that's what is was called back in the day LOL).
I know that I am a little bit rusty and live in north America So I know which sats are for North America.

I am not looking to spend tons of money but I want a good quality and easy to use, more than one option would be good to pick from.

Thank you again for your help.

A good quality and well supported receiver for North America would be an Edision OS MIO.
There is an image for it called TNAP that is customised for North America and the MIO.
It is an Enigma2 receiver so there is a bit of a learning curve but there is an online forum that has dedicated sections to the custom image and the MIO.

Other than the MIO, there are two USA forums that I am aware of that have receiver sections, if you have a browse around those I think you might find one or two recommendations?
Good luck with whatever you buy and hope you enjoy your return to the hobby.

Thank you for your info and I am looking into Edision receiver but I want to read up on it and see how much of a learning curve there is first.

Thank you again for your help.

I just want sure what receivers worked with USA sats. I read somewhere that the Dreambox was a german box and didn't work that well here in the USA. Like I said before I have been out of the hobby for over 15yrs and I know technology has changed in this hobby for the receiver. I will look at the one you recommended and compare it to the other one.

thank you

The two main web sites for USA satellite enthusiasts that I know about do not like discussions on things to do with viewing encrypted services.
I think it could result in a yellow card, followed by a red wan?

Unless the background Chinese servers are capable of delivering pictures to a Viark for USA programming it will perform as a standard FTA satellite receiver.
It is difficult to know if a Viark or a Geant or any type of Chinese server based box will do its magic for USA programming as there is very little discussion on the topic.

It is obvious that oscam is used for USA satellites as there are softcam.key files in circulation that contain the relevant entries for those satellites visible from a USA location.

AT least Forever 141 on Viark or Geant does not work or open any services in USA, but it work for auto B155. Both work with softcam to open B155, PV and T4ndb3rg. Guess nothing is like used to be back them to the P4ns4t era.

OK now I am really confused, what do the servers have to do with delivering pictures and so on? isn't it it sent from my region satellite to my dish and then and down the coax to the LNB input to the receiver then to my TV? I don't have to have the box connected to the internet at all right? Like I said it has been a long time ago and I know things have changed, I do know how IPTV works and that was what I was messing around with till now. as far as I remember everything is sent from ground to satellite then back to ground. sorry if i sound dumb just trying to learn all this again and it's like starting from the beginning again which sucks.

I did find a USA forum that I just signed up to and I am currently reading post that are about 1 to 2 yrs old to current.

thank you again for your time and help I really do appreciate it.

By referring to a server it means that you can watch an encrypted service from the provider. The box takes the signal from satellite just as you know but for encrypted channels, the box is connected to the internet and it goes off to a server to fetch the keys so you can watch the encrypted channels.

In short it's called IKS (internet keys sharing), and you need an internet connection & a subscription..
It is illegal in north america !

Thank you. Sorry for the late reply my daughter dropped my laptop and I had to do some repairs to it.

Everything here in North America is illegal now, soon we won't be able to breath the air.

Most of the IPTV is illegal also.
