Hi guys!

I'm pondering to buy a DVB card but I've never had one so I need your help. Mainly I need it for feed hunting and opening channels in emu and biss and of course something that will open 4:2:2.

And is there a way to buy something to insert a viewing card to open paid channels?

I hope you can recommend me some good cards.
Thanks!

i myself have TBS USB CI QBOX 5980
its perfect for Feedhunting and with common interface you can insert card in any Cam module #Example [ Dragon , Diablo etc.. ]

With ProgDVB you can copy/paste keys with Biss plugin and Vplug plugin
ive never looked back since i bought this DVB USB CI TBS Qbox 9522

Hopefully this is maybbe what your looking for too ??

Record HD is something i do quite a lot so without any doubt in my mind whatsoever i can say yes 100% for sure it will record any HD Channel/Feed that ive come across
im not even sure of the specs to be perfectly honest with you but im sure that i must have watched quite a few 1080i feeds already some of which were biss encrypt but ive not found anything yet that it wont play unless its encrypt with Tandberg which is no shock or surprise .
maybbe some day this encryption might get broken : )
anyways hopefully ive helped your cause and good luck to you im sure your making the right choice just ensure you have Nvidia graphics card because i believe those dvb cards work best with nvidia graphics card only .
ive never been able to test with other graphics card as i have Nvidia myself .
cheers .

THANKS again! Yeah I recently upgraded my GPU to GTX760 so there's no worries there. I think I'm gonna go for one of those two cards and in the longer run will try to create some chains.

I can recommend you only the best DVB card. Buy TBS 5925 USB DVB-S2 TV Tuner Card or TBS 6925 PCI-E DVB-S2 TV Tuner Card. This is TOP professional product!!!!!!!!! There is not better DVB card than it. :D

i made a typo Error in my above post with i corrected now mine is the TBS USB CI QBOX 5980

i think there is not much difference between either and both versions should be able to Run ProgDVB software
its really a good reciever and its memory is really great
once you make a change and restart ProgDVB those changes will be set for future reference which saves a lot of time .
ive never looked back since getting my TBS USB CI QBOX 5980
best move ive ever made i dont regret it for a single moment : )

good luck .

To add My 2p. Stay away from cheap sky star 2 HD or techno trend cards for feed hunting. Tuners weak. No/limited support for auto FEC/modulation. DISECq/USALS issues.

Most TBS Very good. USB models are Pricy but versatile. If you have a full blown PC then TBS 6985 PCIe Quad tuner is now fully supported in EBS pro BlindScan2 with no issues. I have one and quad tuners for £200. Very nice indeed.

TBS 6922, Heard good things and £79. Bargain!

You'll probably want to buy or acquire a copy of progDVB or DVB viewer, or both :D EBS Pro is also a useful, if not essential tool for feed hunting. Dvbviewer comes with transedit, a very useful tool for scanning, analysing and recording transport streams.

Codec packs, probably best installing and using LAV as default for h.264 ffdshow as a backup for lav and cyberlink powerdvd codec pack for decoding hevc. If you have an Nvidia gpu or a recent motherboard with HDMI out you can enable bitstreaming of AC/3 and DTS/(HD) to an AV receiver in both lav and ffdshow. Guides on google ;)

well the server model n54l i'm thinking of using has a gtx210 in it and all small form motherboard. I do have a choice of installing it in my gaming rig with a gtx670 in it. With Barney2222 giving the ok against a QBOX 5980 seems a great choice and dont have to worry about heating issues power draw on the server. also as i am a beginer and hoping to be able to do some magical stuff with it seems a very good way to start. Thanks for the information Trickyd-1 I will be trying out the programs you mentioned and trying to get my head round cam emulation and the like.

Well i've received my 5890 and getting to grips with all the options available out there. Any tips best programs to use and emulators to test out there. It's a bit of a minefield of options. I'm running the server on win8 if that makes a difference. I've scanned and got the usual freesat stuff but looking to do some testing further a field.

Hi Barney2222 just want to thank you for your help so far. At the moment i'm just using a Fixed Freesat Dish so of course the channels i can get are quite limited. I have been having joy with the Hadu plugin but think i'll be investing in a motorised system. I live in the north-est any recommendations on what dish size / lnb system to use.
