Vectra hit by fine

08.08 Europe/London, September 19, 2011 By Chris Dziadul

Poland’s second largest cable operator Vectra has been fined PLN486,254 (€112.618) by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
In a statement, the UOKiK says it began an investigation into the operator last December amid doubts as to whether it had properly informed subscribers about changes to the terms and conditions related to its service.
It concluded that Vectra had only notified its customers after those changes had come into effect.
However, it adds that the decision is not final and can be appealed against in the courts.
Vectra has a presence in 164 towns and cities throughout Poland and claims 350,000 digital TV, 300,000 fixed line and 12,000 mobile internet and 100,000 telephony subscribers.
