Although Russia has one of the five largest mobile TV markets in the EMEA region, the development of services is being hampered by a number of factors.

Quoting a report by PWC, Comnews says the market was worth only $13 million (€9.05 million) in 2010.

However, the number of mobile TV users, though still mostly confined to large cities, grew from 150,000 to nearly one million in the year to January 2011.

Further growth is being hampered by the high cost of consumer devices and the fact that most of the majors do not have the right to broadcast on mobile networks, as well as some technical limitations.

All the leading mobile operators in Russia now offer mobile TV services.
